Hear me out ... I know medium makes a massive difference be soil coco hydro .

But if. Growing a photo you have much more leeway in regards to how long to veg before flower ....

I was originally planning dwc autos then realistically atm don't think it's ideal bit for sure I will on the future . Which then thinking I'll grow coco for bit of both . I was originally planning on growing autos ...

I've decided I'm switching over to photos and I'll wait until I've achieved desired size and structure before flowering . So I'm back to thinking soil with perlite and water less often ?

Key factors:
soil-slower growth, best terpene production, better end flavor
Coco/hydro:faster veg and overall growth times, bigger overall perceived yields, must feed with every watering (if coco).
I’m trying coco this run and really enjoying how fast the growth has been, it’s been considerably noticeable each day from seedling to veg and again from veg to flower. I only grow photos

Yes it makes a difference. Hydroponics grows bigger plants.

Coir is the shit.

If you use a big enough pot you can get away with feeding every few days once the plant is established.

It’s not ideal but it doesn’t seem to hurt.

Whether autos or photos, the characteristic of the medium still stays the same. Hydro and coco/soilless will always yield more and have a stronger potency due to its inert medium and oxygen exchange and the fact that you basically keep the plant on a solid diet.

Ive always found hydro buds to shrink a lot more then soil grown, adds up to more cured weight per sqft.

The short answer to your initial question is, yes. Media matters for photo period plants. It matters for the same reasons it matters for auto-flower plants.

With all the competing information - and opinions - on the net, it can be difficult to make a decision.

The Best Way: Set your goals (It might be helpful to write them down). Understand the differences in grow media/grow styles - cost, complexity, time (your time, not time to harvest), risk. Choose the grow media/grow style that most closely meets your goals. Run with it until you get it right.

Coco is a very forgiving medium. Just make sure you buy pre buffered or buffer it yourself then you good to go.
