Does pot size really matter for a pure coco grow?

My question:
I've read conflicting reports concerning coco and pot size. Some reports claim that coco is like hydro. Pot size doesn't matter, you'll have to feed more frequently but your plants will be able to grow fine as long as your applying nutrients. Basically saying small pots will not effect final yield or size in coco.

I've read other reports that claim coco is more like soil. More space= more roots= more fruits and if you use a small container you're hindering your plant.

Can anyone with experience chime in?

My situation:
I want to do a few outdoor plants in coco this year.

3 gal pots throughout whole life cycle.

2 months veg then forcing them into flower.

Do you think 3 gallons will be to small for my situation? Would i see a much better yield if i went up to 10 gallon containers?

I was actually wondering if going with a 2 gal would hider size and yield compared to 3.5 gal in a flow and grow set up.. so as long s the roots fit?

HI, I HAVE BEEN RUNNING COCO FOR ABOUT A YEAR AFTER COMING AWAY FROM CLAY PEBBELS ONLY.

I HAVE FOUND THAT COCO IS LIKE HYDRO BUT IT HAS THE BENEFIT OF HOLDING WATER BETTER THEN CLAY PEBBLES ALONE , THATS ONE OF THE RESONS WHY I USE IT IN SOME GROWS GOT FEED UP WITH FINDING THERE MISSED A FEED BROKEN PUMP ETC AND THEN IT EFFECTING THE YELIDS WITH COCO I HAVE A TWO DAY GRACE MAYBEE MORE , I WOULD PUT AT LEAST A LAYER OF PEBBLES IN THE BOTTEM OF YOUR POT TO ALLOW GOOD DRAINING . ONE OF THE MISTAKES THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE MAKE IS TREATING COCO LIKE SOIL , IT DOES NOT LIKE TO HAVE A DRY PERIOD AND NEEDS TO HAVE A RUN OFF AT EVERY FEED TO STOP ANY BUILD UP OF SALTS .

IN MID FLOWER I WATER AT LEAST 4 TIMES A DAY VIA DIPPERS AND THE COCO COULD EASLY TAKE DOUBLE THAT . AS FOR THE POT SIZE I THINK THERE IS A BALANCE YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH RUNNING SLIGHTLY SMALL SIZE POTS BUT I FIND THAT I 10LTR POT WORKS BEST AS THE ROOTS DO REALLY EXPLODE THIS SIZE WILL BE ABLE TO GROW MONSTERS BUT I HAVE FOUND AFTER LOTS OF FEEDS THE COCO TIGHTENS UP AND SEEMS TO SRINK SO THIS SIZE POTS ARE PERFECT FOR MOST PLANTS , IF YOU WAS THINKING OF DOING A SEA OF GREEN WITH HARDLY AN VEG TIMES YOU COULD CUT THE POT SIZE IN HALF .

IF YOU WATTER AT LEAST 3 TIMES A DAY WITH 5% RUN OFF YOU WILL GET GOOD YEILDS AS LONG AS EVERYTHING ELES IS IN PLACE.

I don't grow in coco but a good friend of mine does and he was in 3 gal pots for his first few grows with coco then moved up to 5 gal pots and I could easily see the difference, the plants were a lot bigger in the 5 gal. I don't know if it was him just dialing in growing with coco or if the 5 gallon pots made the difference but hes still in 5 gal so id say yes, pot size matters imo.

i think it makes a difference but not as big of a difference as with soil and other "slower" mediums. always go bigger when you can. i got stuck in half gal pots last time because when i went to transplant some of my coco had gotten wet in storage and molded and there isnt a hydro shop here. if i would have bumped up to 3 gal like i wanted i think i would have easily outdone the small pots. i still averaged almost 4 zips a plant but i think the bigger pots would have got me in the 4-6 range

I grown 2 clones side by side. 1 was grown in a 5 gallon bucket while the other was in a 2 gallon pot.
The plant grown in 5 gallons was larger and yielded more.
My growing mentor @GreenThumbSucker, would grow trees in 20 gallon pots. He claims the tops of the plant naturally spread with the roots.
Sort of a as below so above affect.
