Trump threatens further legal action against news media, Jan. 6 panel
Former President Trump on Monday threatened legal action against various news media outlets and the House select committee investigating the Jan 6., 2021, attack on the Capitol on the same day his legal team filed a lawsuit against CNN.

Trump did not specify what other media outlets he plans to sue but said he would file lawsuits against them for their “disinformation” about the 2020 election, which he lost to President Biden.

“In the coming weeks and months we will also be filing lawsuits against a large number of other Fake News Media Companies for their lies, defamation, and wrongdoing, including as it pertains to ‘The Big Lie,’ that they used so often in reference to their disinformation attack on Presidential Election of 2020,” Trump wrote in his statement.

The former president said he would target the Jan 6. committee for not investigating his claims of election fraud, which were at the center of dozens of lawsuits by Trump in courts across the U.S., all of which were dropped or dismissed, some by judges he appointed.

“The Unselect Committee has refused to acknowledge, as was done by the Biden Inspector General at the Department of Defense, and others, that days ahead of January 6th, I recommended and authorized thousands of troops to be deployed to ensure that there was peace, safety, and security at the Capitol and throughout the Country,” Trump added.

Biden had not yet been sworn in as president in the days leading up to Jan. 6. There is also no evidence that Trump ordered any extra security at the Capitol in anticipation of violence there on that day.

In the lawsuit filed against CNN on Monday, Trump’s attorneys claimed the network “has sought to use its massive influence — purportedly as a ‘trusted’ news source — to defame the Plaintiff in the minds of its viewers and readers for the purpose of defeating him politically, culminating in CNN claiming credit for ‘[getting] Trump out’ in the 2020 presidential election.”

Trump is seeking $475 million in punitive damages.

Trump announced his intent to sue the network earlier this summer, saying in a statement he would “also be commencing actions against other media outlets who have defamed me and defrauded the public regarding the overwhelming evidence of fraud throughout the 2020 Election.”
this is fucking hilarious...trump is suing them for calling him a liar, when he's going to have to go into court and make statements under oath that will get him locked the fuck up for perjury?
is he relying on his hand picked judges to hand him millions?

Trump: ‘Very disloyal’ if Pence, other Cabinet members run in 2024
Former President Trump said he would find it “very disloyal” if former Vice President Mike Pence or other members of his former Cabinet sought the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, seeking to send a warning to a number of figures weighing potential White House bids.

“Many of them have said they would never run if I run, so we’ll see if that turns out to be true,” Trump said Friday during a brief phone interview with Fox News Radio host Brian Kilmeade. “I think it would be very disloyal if they did, but that’s OK, too.”

Trump boasted that “the polls have me leading by 40, 50 points” and said he would decide on whether to pursue another presidential bid “in the not-too-distant future.”

The former president has not said whether he intends to run, but has openly flirted with seeking a return to the White House.

Most polls show Trump as the clear favorite to reclaim the Republican nomination if he were to run, but several other high-profile Republicans like Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, among others, are also reportedly considering a bid for the White House.

Earlier this week, Pence took several swipes at Trump, warning conservatives against veering too far toward “unprincipled populism” during a speech at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C.

Trump has been sharply critical of his former vice president for not going along with his plan to stop the certification of President Biden’s electoral college victory on Jan. 6, 2021.

A former assistant to Trump told the House panel investigating the Jan. 6 riot earlier this year that Trump called Pence a “wimp” during a call between the men shortly before the riot.

If Donald is gonna run, I think he waited too long, the FBI knows all about it and his new secret service agents will be on board and they won't need to stick a gun in the pilot's ear. Fly to Mexico, drop off the SS agents, then off to Moscow or Dubai. His parting message to America will be, so long suckers!

more likely, he is making sure it is salable — to pay for the coming fecal cyclone of court obligations.

Knowing Donald as we do, nothing would be past him in his moment of crises and desperation, but I doubt he would have the brains to plan and execute an escape. Uncle Sam would probably either indict him of seize his passport(s) if he tried, ya don't need Donald running around the world with perhaps a cellphone full of top-secret document pictures for sale!

It goes to show you how fucking stupid, brain damaged and out of touch with reality he was. The value was not in the possession of the printed-out documents, but in their content. He could have simply taken photos with a cellphone and not even bothered to take the documents, much less walk into a legal woodchipper while everybody including the DOJ warned him every step of the way.

The physical documents were important to Donald, many aspects of his psyche seem to have calcified in the 1980's or 90's, emotionally he is truncated at about age 4. He is a TV person and eschews computers but discovered social media as another platform to lie on from his cellphone. It reminds me of the transition to digital music, before it was something tangible that you could hold in your hand, now it's an MP3 file that you can download or stream for free. I noticed it as an early adoptor of digital music, but the sense of physical loss faded, though some people can never let go of the past.

I said nothing about escape, and I would rather you responded courteously to what I actually posted, instead of springboarding your irrelevant agenda off something with a different focus. Manners, dude.

I’m thinking that he is hocking the ride.

He could be doing that, but he should only need the ride for a month or two before he's indicted, shortly after that the federal government will be providing his air transport to his various trials. However, don't be surprised if desperate Donald tries to fly away from his mounting legal troubles.

He will encounter the marshals with a resounding clang, is my guess.

perhaps...perhaps they'll just let him go, after stripping him of any property he might have that could prove embarrassing for the US...
i think it might serve to shut up some of the loudest of the republican talking heads, if donny turned up in moscow, or beijing...

I imagine the FBI listens to him.
you know i'm not a conspiracy theorist, but if the right people decide trump should get away, then he's going to get away. there are enough people in government who still follow the fat fuck, and enough people with money that he has dirt on, that it is not outside the realm of possibility at all...

I’m gonna cultivate a bit of optimism.
I am hoping that between the coming crush of fraud and sedition suits/cases, a billionaire (a real one, not the mango mirage) or two will end up in for-real Federal prison.
