Done with 1st Outdoor, Time for 1st indoor!

Ok, so I'm done with my first outdoor grow and am using my profits to fund an indoor grow.

I just got a great deal for a grow package: 4x4 grow tent, a 1000w MH bulb, hood, and ballast. All of this for $300, so I am definitely pretty stoked. My total budget which I was looking to spend was around $800-$1000.

So here is the crossroads I am currently at. My first intention was to have 2 tents, one for flowering and one for vegging, so I could do a perpetual grow and harvest every month. However, I am now thinking maybe I should keep it simpler and maybe just do the entire grow in this one tent since its my first time and I don't really know too much. I know I would have to get a 1000w HPS as well.

Goal: I'd like to pull about 1-2 lbs of high quality medicals every 2 months.

Main Questions:

1. What would be the best way to attain my goal while also being somewhat forgiving to a beginner? Ebb and Flow tray, Bucket system, Soil? I've been leaning towards maybe a 4x4 tray with say 20-30 plants? Or should I do a 3x3 tray so I have a little room inside the tent to work? Or should I do soil and just try to fit as many plants in as I can? I would like to try hydro because I've read it can produce.

2. Should I hold off on the perpetual grow set-up with the 2 different tents and lights until I have a few grows under my belt and can sustain two at once?

3. Is my goal attainable?

Thanks.

Find uncle bens (i think its his) guide on 2 pounds every 3 weeks (or something similar). he details everything needed very well. Just modify the space and plant count to suit your production goal. you can even do it with one or two plants per cycle if your a medical patient keeping numbers down.

Ya I have read that post, and that's what I was planning on doing, but I was just wondering if that is too advanced for a beginner and if I should keep it simple with one tent/tray for my first grow?

2 is the way 2 go but you need to look at how much they grow after they are turned. Some can grow 2 to 5 times the size after you switch them over. So for now think of a few till you get this down because you dont want them growing so big the others get lost(or if two do it - ouch). You'r gunna learn as you
grow. You'll make mistakes. just learn from them and keep growing. If you have the money buy the second if you dont you'll regret it later.

so youre saying get the 2nd tray and light and tent and all that?

Should I go with a 3x3 tray in a 4x4 tent and a 4x4 tray in a 4x6 tent? Do you really need to room to walk around inside?

It isn't that you need room to walk around inside the tent, but your going to need room to be able to get to the plants once they get to be larger. Most tents are designed to fit the trays perfectly just make sure your plants aren't so big you cant turn them around and get in there to check them out. Always look for mold and pest man.

Thanks HM, so would you suggest a 3x3 tray for a 4x4 tent? Or could a 4x4 tent with a 4x4 tray be manageable as long I make sure the plants don't get too big?
