It's really up to you wether you start over or cut the stalk.

If you do cut the stalk, cut it down the the lowest point where you have leaves. I don't know how the auto will respond to this much tinkering?

Since this is a hobby and all, enjoy it! Maybe keep one of them, and use the other half of your space to start a new one that you KNOW FOR SURE will produce some good smoke by the end. And you will have some more experience under you belt.

As far as smoking leaves, it's a waste. There won't be much material on the leaves that will get you high. "Shake" is usually a bit different. When you trim your buds, you don't get ALL the leaves off. And the leaves you do leave are so close to the bud that there will be valuable THC on them. So the 'Shake' you usually have in your cure jar will be both leafy and bud material that has 'shaken' loose from the bud, which will have a decent content thc and worthy of smoking.
I think your wrong were you say smoking the leaves is a wast, let all the leaves you choped dry and cure for a few days in a paper bage, go out and buy some white owl's and pack them bitches with them leaves, smoke the whole thing to urself and i guarentee you, you will be high, and its better then nothing and will hold you over for a bit while you start your second grow, if you dont like this idea, take em ALL and make a badass batch of brownies, you see most of these people are rich and to them they can just go out and buy a sack or are stocked up, im giving you advice, this is unless you have a good job and dont mind forking out money, or you just dont care about getting medicated at all.

If they are autos, and you are over 30 days in you will yield almost nothing once those re-veg for two or three weeks.
I would start over, and not waste time and money on something that will give you no return.

The fan leaves won't give you anything worth smoking.

Next time you have a idea just do it on one plant, make one plant a experiment plant, atleast that's what I do. Kind of like science you have a neutral then you have the other one as a experiment plant. As for what everyone is saying I would try it with one plant an you can start new plants also. When the fan leaves are in the way of my bud sites I just tuck them under other leaves or I just lightly tie them together out of the way.

See the before & after pics. Okay, so I should have done a little more research before I got crazy with the scissors. After further research it seems that trimming a few fan leaves is okay but whacking all of them is a bad idea because they help with providing nutrients and flushing waste or nutrient buildup? I'm using CFLs and the fan leaves were blocking too much light so I decided to get rid of them. Did I just make a huge mistake or is it good to clear out the fan leaves. You'll notice in the pics that all that is left is the flowers. This is my first official grow so I suppose I'm allowed to make dumb mistakes if indeed it was a mistake. Thoughts?
if i could reach out and smack the back of your head i would.

Just veg your plants till you get some long enough branches and take clones off the tops, root them and replace the ones that you hacked if you want unless you want to keep them since they are tall and can bush out again. If your lights are on a timer you can take them off and give them 24/0 light that way they can make as much energy as they can and can regrow faster compared to if you do the 20/4 or 18/6.
Can't clone autos man.

Should've said they were autos from the start...I'm forced to take back my advice...I'd suggest stating over, maybe keeping 2 as experiments...One with the main stalk chopped to the bottom, and one left alone, compare the yields and determine which worked out better, if it worked out at all! Just in case someone makes the same mistake, It'd really contribute to the community!

Like he said start over or dutch your CFLs and buy some 70w MH and HPS and ballasts for them and use the MH and HPS for future gardens.

I'm leaving the plants as they are, sort of like an experiment. I could have cut the stalks in half on a few of them but I thought I'd just see how they do as is. If this is the first post you're reading in this thread, I chopped off all of the fan leaves on my autos which was a mistake. At this point I'm just going to keep the plants going until they have matured which will be in another 30 days or so. I'll post the final pics once they are fully grown. As a sneak preview, the plants have resumed flowering and are starting to take off again. They were stunted for a few days though. I guess not all is lost like I had originally thought. On the down side, I won't have anything to compare them to. If I had left one untampered then I would have been able to compare the yields.
