Dopey's First Hydro. Nothern lights x white widow

Setup:
A 94L rubbermaid tub
6 net pots
1 55w and 4 23w cfls
1 400w metal halide
1 400w hps
1 aquarium pump split to 2 hoses
6 rockwool cubes
1 bag hydroton
Advanced nutrients line-up
1 Blue lab ph pen
1 ppm/ec trudgeon (not sure if thats how u spell it...or even say it for that matter)



Whats up guys? This is going to be my second journal, but very first hydro setup. I've procrastinated alot before deciding to switch to hydro, but here I am now giving it a whirl. I will be growing 6 northern lights x white widow from seed. I germinated the seeds in rockwool cubes inside a cloning tray. I Left them in there for about a week before switching them to the hydro setup. I filled the resevoir and let it sit for about half hour to an hour to let the chlorine dissipate. After i mixed a light mixture of nutrients (about .75 ml/L) I mixed well and ph'd to 5.6. I have no clue how to use my ppm trudgeon...ish. I know how to read it, but have no idea how to make sense of it all. Anyone? Anyone? Next I put the airstones at the bottom of the res, and put the lid on. Now I'm all set. I Put the rockwool cubes with the sprouts in the bottom of the net pots and filled with hydroton just enough to cover the rockwool and support the stem a little. I placed it in the closet about 5 inches under the light and plugged it in. I also have 6 plants in another room about 7 weeks into flower. As soon as these are harvested i will be moving the hydro setup in so that i can put it under the metal halide.

Been about a week since my last entry. Since then There's been a decent amount of growth. I'm really amazed at the difference in speed of growth with hydro compared to soil. My roommate is growing a single plant of the same strain in his room in soil. were gonna compare results. In the end we may or may not turn his into a mother. I changed the res water today. I added the grow, micro, and bloom and some B-52. I dont have any of the other veg nutrients yet, but plan on getting some eventually. The voodoo juice is hella expensive. I was looking at the hobbyist kit online and am quite interested in that as you get 4 bottles for the price of 2 at the grow store. My ph is balanced at 5.6 and ec around .71.

The plants in the flower room will be ready to come down before next weekend and i will be able to plug in the MH and really start vegging. I will post pics of the harvest wet and dry and give the weights. Also below are a few pics of the canna products i have made this week. One of them is iso oil, and the other some cannabutter.

Well, Its been a couple weeks. I guess I got a little bit behind. I've had quite a bit of growth as you can see since my last update. I've been fighting a deficiency for the past couple weeks and losing. It is only appearing in one plant which I find strange. I found signs yesterday in another plant, and i tested the ph immediately. I was sitting at about 6.2. I added a little ph down and brought it down to 5.6 ish. I tested my ec, and it seems to have barely changed. Lots of water uptake tho. I'm not going to add any more as I plan on changing the res water tomorrow anyway. Tomorrow is also the day I will be switching to my hps and flipping to 12/12. If the one sick plant doesn't get better soon, I think i am going to scrap it. I will try a couple more things but i am starting to run out of ideas. How could i Lower the salt levels in a dwc system?? Just less nutes?? I'm also having a little bit of a hard time keeping my res temps down. atm I'm sitting at 24. A little warm but could be worse. I got frozen bottles cooling my air pump. I also added some ice water into my res, which I know is extremely temporary but it got the job done quick, now I just need to maintain.
