So I passed my PhD qualifier and now I should be less busy. These are shots I took a few days ago. The girls are looking pretty.
Romulan day 59. This is by far the stinkiest plant I have ever grown. She smells SOOO good and the resin production is insane. It's hard to describe the smell other than it is just fruity and sweet.
Dairy Queen 1 day 45 of flower. If you recall, this is the DQ that I messed up the SS amount with on the first run (she doesn't need SS). This is also the same plant that I grew outdoors this year. This is my favorite smelling plant right now. Now that the outdoor harvest is cured, it smells like a cherry cheese danish. This was the EXACT pheno I was looking for. Super strong high too. I'm pretty sure this will be my keeper DQ pheno. The other pheno is very Space Queen dom. and is super cherry smelling. The cherry is nice, but like Old Gregg I prefer them creamy
Qush 1 day 24. I also messed this one up my first run, she needs doesn't need much SS.
Qush 3 day 17. The finished Qush 3 has an epic funky rotten smell to her with a little bit of purpling.
More to come, including the semi-mainlined Cognac Kush (Plushberry x Querkle)...
Thanks. I have a BS in Chemical Engineering, MS in Materials Science and working for a PhD in Materials Science. I essentially work on alternative energy materials.
Quick update: Killed all my Qush plants. Qush started throwing male stamen around week 4, so I would consider that a full blown hermaphrodite. I'll post pictures of it soon, got a few good shots. No heat issues this time, so I would call it mostly genetic (she was super green so I doubt it was soil problems). Decided I didn't want to deal with an unstable line in my garden so I chopped all the Qush girls. It's looking like i'll pull Rommy at 10 weeks (Monday or Tuesday) as she is starting to turn milky. Can't wait!
Even more fun news, STARTED A NEW PHENO HUNT. Started some 303 Seeds Ski Patrol [(Jack Herer (Sensi Seeds) x AK-47 (Serious Seeds)] x [(Arcata Trainwreck x Super Silver Haze) x Pakistan Chitral Kush]. With chopping the Qush, I finally have ample room to start looking for another beautiful girl.
I was also gifted an old school Panama strain that i'll probably run once (or more if I fall in love).
Now I have to think what I will start next after I find my Ski Patrol pheno. So much to choose from, so little time. Right now I think it may be one of MG's GDP crosses
Yeah I was rather bummed, especially because the Qush that most recently showed stamen smelled extremely good. They seem like ANY stress will make them herm, granted I only had 3 phenos, all of which hermed. I've heard this is a problem with a lot of Pre98 crosses, not just TGA's.
Hey CAS - that is a bummer about the Qush. I didn't have any issues with the three I ran outdoors last summer so there is hope that it can be a hermi-free "outdoor-only" strain.
I am excited that you are doing a pheno search on the Ski Patrol. I was contemplating doing the same thing this winter but I have too many other projects going on so I probably wouldn't have gotten to it. I'll be interested to see what you find - and of course be hitting you up for a cut...
BTW - your bubble bags are cleaned and ready to return. We just need to find a time to meet up. Let me know if you need them soon and I'll make sure I get them to you...
You'll want to grow out the Ski Patrol, sex it, take cuts, and then flower out the cuts while they are pretty small.
There is enough sativa in this one to allow it to veg while flowering. You can still get a nice 2-3 foot plant flowering a 4-6 inch cut with most of the phenotypes.
This was also the most picky of all of the Ski Train crosses. I wouldn't recommend doing supersoil with this genetic. They need a bit more nitrogen in bloom too.
Feel free to hit me up at any point in the process.
I'm excited to see you running these...and congrats on the PhD studies. The more you know...
Thanks BP for the advice. I'll do straight up roots organics and try to feed from there. I am not terribly good at feeding plants fertilizers so it will be a fun learning experience. Also I've been trying to send you a PM but your inbox is full.
I don't know CAS... I will throw up a few pics of GD99 soon. Big C99 style buds on both phenos, lemon pheno is much more resinous. Pop some Blue Jeans, DVCheese, Brooklyn Heights, or DVK, if you have. Mid finished a DVK up on SH, under a 250W......huge chunky nugs of serious Chemdog and SFV OG flavor. It made me want to get f2s on the way. My BD is buck and Dispo is loving it as well. This is a monster yielding sweet and sour Headband cross. (Sour OG x BD) x DHOG) x BD)
Thanks guys! I am a big fan of the mainlining. I sort of do a hybrid style of LST between using mainlining to create the initial structure and the tomato cages to spread the plant out. The problem is that I don't have much horizontal space, so I cannot properly mainline in my veg area. Instead I mainline for 4 then let the plants grow kind of straight up since I am limited by space. Once they get transplanted into 5 gal. buckets, I put them in my staging area where I am no longer horizontally constrained and I use a tomato cage to spread the plant out. That is why you see the light green leaves on the Cognac Kush because those didn't receive much light until I was able to spread it apart.
The dairy queen definitely has a sativa hybrid high. It does have a slight narcotic effect but it is a very strong high. I enjoy it a lot.
