Looking good Hank,

My last order with Dr Green thumbs was for these and my order did not show up! forcing me to cancel my credit card payment which resulted in Doc himself calling and threatening me on the phone!!

I have previously run his gear with great success but refuse to use him again for obvious reasons, it appears that you did not have 100% seed germination?
Damn man... I'm sorry to hear that. I've only done two orders but both went well. I've bullshit'd with him through email on a few occasions. I got nothing bad to say about the guy.

Germination was 100%. Nice healthy seeds actually. I think I might have gotten a choice pack.. I fucked up/aborted some of them. One I dropped on the floor moving it to the pot.. broke the tip of the root.
I always get anxious and dig around in the coco if they aren't popping up right away.. I usually off one or two like that.

One of the plants I grew all the way out and decided to abort just before I started this flower. That plant (#1) is in the veg pictures.. I wanted to cut one more plant out.. It was a super stout plant... Nice growth, lots of nodes/sites, just too stout. I like productive branching type plants, large, sprawling, that kinda thing. I grow out these seeds to find a mother... 11 to select from is just too many.. If I had brought all 11 to the point of flowering I would have pulled some out anyway. I do 4 plants per light when producing. When testing mothers I prefer 3 plants per light.

On average, if I grow a 10 pack, I end up with 7 seedlings. I do a lazy cup of water germination.. takes about 18 hours. I've had very few seeds, from any breeder, that would not germinate. Just a straight dud... maybe 4 or 5 seeds out of a couple hundred.

Man, if you're looking for a good pack, something new to try... Chimera - Sweet Tooth 1.1 (Grapefruit x Blueberry)... That stuff is epic. I haven't found anything like that pack since.
I can't think of a better cross. SPG is an amazing feel good indica. DJ Shorts BB pollen (B130), great stuff.

I talk up that pack all the time. Years later..

Looking good hank. Have a Bubba og in veg. Hope it turns out nice like your #7 looks. Huge.
Throw up a pic here sometime if you're feeling it..

#7 is a good one. Really though... there is only one plant of the 7 that is not in the race to be a keeper. They all are really good.
I might choose 2 or 3 to grow again... then select one to keep, long term.

#3 is intriguing. I'm not sure how well I am showing the branching structure of the plant, but, it's really nice. I like a plant that throws out branches that are not too far behind the top bud. I did quite a bit of cleaning up the lower growth of these plants... THe reason why... They were almost 3 feet tall going into flower... I stripped lower growth and transplanted them deep. When I do these test grows... yield is of no concern... I give them plenty of room to really get a good look at the plants characteristics.

I've already told myself that I can only keep one Bubba OG, long term. I have a genetic hoarding problem...
I am changing my ways though... I just killed off over half of my mothers yesterday. It will be so much less work. While it's great to be able to pull from such a variety... it's just ridiculous when you have so many mothers that you get to grow each plant once every other year (I grow monoculture when not testing, clones).

I had 4 haze varieties... not necessary.

The smell and taste of this plant are what sets it apart in my opinion...oh yeah, its potent as hell too.
Wait until you smoke it and the Musty taste comes through...I love it!!!

By the way...Looking good man!!
That's what I'm going for... I need something in the lineup that will impress with the smell. I've been lacking in that dept.

Man... my plants look like little toys compared to your monsters... haha.
You know, I'm in it to observe genetics... I'll see what I can do with yields after I make a nice selection.

A couple of these are starting to look like hash plant. Strangely, it's the ones that look like they will be taking longer to flower.
...Those leaves that jet out of the cola, the resin, bud formation... it's something I have not had for a while. And, the yields on these BOG are decent. My past experience with hash plant was EXTREME quality, very low yields. I used to get just over 5 oz with a 600hps,,, that was Deep Chunk. Very Hashy Plant stuff.

I need to research Bubba K and OG K.. I'm not really sure what is leaning towards what... I'll have to search around.

Man... Resin just came on hard. There are some very very resinous stinky plants in this bunch.
I had a little smell scare for the first time in a long time... I did a quick carbon filter change.. Got a new 750 cfm Phresh filter.
A slow pull (440cfm at 50% speed adjustment) will cover up the worst smell.
Before the change.. I caught a whiff of the ladies at a distance from the room I am not comfortable with. Buyer beware!

I'll get an update soon. I'm starting to really like the look of number 8 and 5. They have this look that remind me of hash plant... The calyx cluster are spread. Dense calyx, just not filled in yet. I've seen this before though, they fill in.

The smell on these plants (8 and 5) are a step up from the rest as well.

The thing is.. they are not the highest yielding.. I might go ahead and put quality over quantity for this selection.. It used to be my way. I need one plant that is unbelievably top shelf. I'll give a cut of the highest yield plant to a friend as to not go to waste.

Update soon.. maybe later tonight.

Dr GT lists this pack as one of his lower yielding choices.
While there are some lower yielding plants in the mix... Two of these seven could easily turn out to be yielding just as well as my G13 keeper. 3 others are not too far behind those... The remaining two are on the lower yielding end. But, like I said. There are some plants in here that are going to yield very well but still give the same quality of the others.

Bubba OG, was an EXCELLENT choice. Very glad I went with this pack..

it turned out to be one of my biggest yielders.

I had it in my head that I was getting myself a plant of extreme high quality while taking a hit in the yield department.. not the case... all the quality, no sacrifice on yield. I'm happy about.

I think Dr GT was being a little modest with the yield description on these.

For real... update tonight.. I don't wanna take them out of the tent until harvest though.. they are so resinous.. I do not want to damage trichs.

Some of those pheno's are looking legit!
There are two groups that are standing out to me.
#2 and #7... largest yielding and veryhigh quality.
#5 and #8... so resinous that i cant really take a picture with the flash on. unique calyx shape

These pics of #7 just do not do justice. It is the clear winner as far as yield andis very resinous... rock hard buds with very low leaf to calyx ratio. For some reason it's uniqueness does not stand out in the tent photos. I think when I get them out of the tent for the harvest photos it will be clear.

First day of Week 8

The plants are bulking up real nice.
I wish I was a fan of indica smoke as I would be much more excited about this grow.
From a growers view though, these plants are fantastic. Yields, resin, smells. Very nice.,

I swear some of these plants bulked up over night.
My prediction as of now is that I will throw out #3,#4, #6 adn #8
I will do another grow of #2, #5 and #7 under a 1800 watt (3x9) garden.
With that grow I can get an idea of yields and pick out my keeper.
That grow should start up in mid October and will be included in this journal/thread.

Throwing any of these plants out is going to be tough. I hate the thought of throwing out something that could have been very special. It could have just had a rough start. Damaged roots, salt build up, whatever. Everything in this pack looks so good, it will be tough. I can't keep more than 3 of them though.

If one of the two lower yielding plants (3 and 4) turn out to be exceptionally resinous, I might keep a 4th for round 2 of testing

Great job!
Plants look fantastic.
I know the problem you describe picking a keeper....you always wonder if you killed off something special.
But I like the way you run things...it should make it much more likely to get the best one.
