I can definitely see why not.
Figure the plant will take 3-4 weeks before it will start flowering from ceed, 12-16 more before its finished, and then another 3-4 weeks before its dried and cured. So between germing the ceed and trying the bud is going to take at least four months, and perhaps as long as six months. During that time, you could literally have run three different crops of a fast maturing hybrid from clone.
Meanwhile, these types of sativas basically never stop growing, even during flowering, so you're going to end up with something probably not less than five feet high/long. In general, strains like this are the hardest ones to grow indoors, typically requiring extensive training. Something like this may simply be prohibitive for small indoor gardens.
Outdoors is also problematic, since unless you're really far South or are growing in a greenhouse the strain probably won't finish before winter frosts come and kill the plant.
My take is that if you're after a high quality sativa, there are probably other hazes that are a little easier to grow and will give you as good or better results. Something like this is really for an experienced grower with a lot of time and space on their hands, who is looking for a challenge.
Hey Jo.....i see what your saying, any why most won't attempt this strain.
A few points though.....the yield is pretty good....i had about a 6 footer outside, next to a similar size haze!thai strain that had pretty dense buds for sativa. The Grinspoon only yielded about an ounce less.
U must realize there is barely any leaf to trim....suoer thin stems....and giant pod clusters that don't shrink. This means your trim, dry n cure time are minimal, not months, but weeks.
Also you would only dedicate a small area to this one, while doing two runs of other clones at the same time so your not waiting n wasting space.
The picture u usually see of Grinspoon is the indoor one, which i guarentee yeilded pounds...and it commands top dollar!!!
Anyone that has smoke it that i know loves it...especially the older heads, they freak out for this one.
Sure it takes time n patience....but u will not expeirence this kinda strain in today's genetics, cause it doesn't have the big tight buds, so breeders steer clear.
This is why today's weed n strains are weak, and a point i've been trying to make for a long time!!!! All the breeders n growers want everything to look good visually....it's not about quality n potency! Sure they try to get these varieties as potent as they can, but they still have to look a certain way.....so they will never be that potent.......PERIOD!!!! It is those kind of genetics that have the most potency.....all the THc, and other coumpounds, are focused on these huge pods.....energy and potency aren't wasted on all that plant matter!
