Havent had one in years... i tend to stay away from ales but have yet to give them a shot again now that my tastes have changed... I used to hate dark beers, but now I rather enjoy them... now my distaste goes toward skunky beer like stella artois

Our local best be ers are Caste and black label (bit more bitter, working man's beer), being not much of a drinker these days I stick to the heinies if its absolutely required to be social.

sam adams anyone? octoberfest is out. i love their seasonal shit. they really do have a brew for everyone. i think it's somewhat local but i know a lot of places stock it. fyi to anyone who likes the summer ale, their costal wheat is very similar and it's year-round.
