Drones...

I got a buddy who swears the cops and special task force peoples in our county are starting to use em and he is starting to get nervous. This guy is straight up a godfather for me in terms of growing, and has been doing it long enough that I value his opinion. We live in the deep south on the east coast, not some cannabis eden like some of you guys (jealous). Anyone else getting concerned??

Are you growing outdoors? The threat from helos is the same as from drones, just cant hear em.

The gov't is always watching though. If you're just now getting freaked out you haven't been paying attention!

No outdoors anymore for me too risky with surveillance...Remember though drones can travel farther overhead than helos, and much more silent...Plus, drones can do surveillance 24/7, whereas helos are man operated and cannot do 24/7...

I wouldn't worry unless you're running a large scale grow, or involved in other questionable activities... there are many small fish in the sea not worth the catch, imo

imvho, copters and ir are about the last two ways one is going to get busted, unless you're growing some crazy farm full of plants that is..
things like running your mouth, selling out of your home, and a few others are what i'd worry more about..

I agree with racerboy unless you're some big money grower shouldn't have much to worry about.......do you have skeletons in your closet ......do you have reasons to worry.......like Tony Beretta said don't do the crime if you can't do the time

Well things are still different here in the deep south..where laws are designed in a strict republican worldview, and cannabis ain't part of their status quo...But what IS on there radar is heavy duty overkill equipment (think latest dodge chargers for in-town cop cars) and these good ol boys always like the latest and greatest police stuff. So I guess I'll just remain wary and not overly paranoid just yet, but the drone technology is here and constantly being refined by good ol johhny law.

i'm pretty sure that any evidence found from strictly ir in the us of a isn't considered legal, meaning that you'd not supposed to be able to get arrested simply from ir evidence..
i'm not saying cops wouldn't lie about things, and say they had other evidence about you, just saying that's how it's supposed to work.

Fight back, buy your own drone !!! I bought one recently and they are way cool. I buzzed the swimming pool in my neighborhood today ( grand opening for the Summer ) to check out any new tail that might have moved in while I wasn't watching. A good 10 minute hover/scoping around and not a soul noticed. However, the babe in the American flag bikini is now on my radar.

Thought about getting a drone at some point to check on my grow outdoors without physically having to be there. Especially being able to check on when I needed to get out there to water, etc,. I consider this to be the golden age of prohibition---similar to what occurred with alcohol. We are all simply playing the thin line right now between legality and illegality..with the profit margins and risk being higher for us all now...A gift and a curse so to speak for us growers.

Dude, look on E-Bay. You too can be manning your own drone ( with video surveillance ) for anywhere from $200 on up. It's a fucking blast, not sure why I didn't get one sooner.

yeah, check out quad copters.. a few friends of mine on fb are all into them and always posting aerial footage they take..
then like the next day they put up videos asking how to fix the damned things after they have crashed them.. looks like a cool hobby, but can get pricey super quick from what i have seen..

I would definitely recommend not going crazy with your purchase. Keep it under $350. The technology is moving quickly and, like computers, the price will continue to drop as the technology improves.

True racer, you gotta get the hang of it first before getting crazy flying, but they are continually improving the chassis. Can't wait for the carbon fiber chassis !!!!!!!

Meanwhile, Uncle Buck is still trying the Trayvon Martin case.

I just got a cheap one for like 150 ish. I figure the first one I get will be one that can get wrecked and the next one will be a nicer one once I get the hang of it. I live up in the mountains / forest so I wanna know I can manuever the thing before my wife kills me for wastin money

yeah, i'm pretty sure my one buddy is all into making parts for them now. he has his own company, but of course i forget the name of it atm.. he has a nice lathe and mill and just built his own 360 printer from the top of his head, no plans or anything..

It's really not difficult, just refrain from practicing inside at first. Find a nice grassy field ( local school ) and get acclimated.
