I googled this question but couldn't find anything. Instead of drying the pollen sacs individually can I hang dry the whole plant like with female plants or will it ruin the pollen? It's right before the point where all the sacs open and I want to save it.
Sorry no.i kill males often and once you severe that stem like you were harvesting a female he's done for.
Edit:you do individual branches and put those in water
I'm making a hybrid of the two strains I have, forbidden cookies and Gorilla Glue #4. Now that I've learned not to burn my plants to death with distilled water I'm trying something a little different given I have this option.
You can just snip off the male flower tops and put them in a glass of water until they start dropping pollen. This way you can keep the pollen in a safe area away from your flowering girls.

Yes, you cut the male tops off and stick the cut ends in water like you would with regular flowers. This will keep the cutting alive long enough to allow for the pollen sacks to open and drop pollen somewhere it wont affect any flowering females. You can also set your jar over a sheet of paper to make it easy to collect the pollen dust.
To clarify, I am not talking about just plucking a few clusters of pollen sacks off, I am talking about cutting a big section of the branch off.
