thats the way I normally dry them. i am looking for info on dry boxes that speed up the process and eliminate any possible mold. And yes my hubby is very good in the handyman department. He's a great carpender and has exceptional mechanic skills. He's a good man otherwise I wouldn't be with him

i would build a wood box, and get an intake and out, fans.
may speed it up.
i dont like to rush drying, cos i messed up with my 1st harvests, trying to dry to fast."nothing worse than fast dried bud".
hope you get somthing sorted, in fact i know you will.

p.s whats the big rush.
thought you would have loads left from last summers harvest.lol

I am just curious to find a method that works well. Its more of a question hubby had. He has some plans of his own. I am thinking some of my weed is gonna be scooped.

You could use the plans for the rubbermaid dryer but build a wooden box rather than use the rubbermaid tub. This way hubby can use his carpenter skills to build a sweet little box with a hinged door so it's easy to open and a bit more "earthy" than the rubbermaid thingy. I made one out of an old trunk I found in a house I bought a few years back. Hinged lid makes for easy access and then vents out the bottem on the back of the box. The trunk sits on one side with the hinged door opening like a closet door so there is room for several screen shelves inside in case you have bud in different stages of dry...easier to keep track. Bout four feet tall but suppose it could be as tall as you want. I connected the vent to a chimney that runs to my roof so not much smell. I have a friend who built one out of an old pie cozy. It's pretty neat, will have to see if she will let me take some pics.

Have not had any problems with excessive moisture effecting the wood. I think the box is cherry so based on that would think a hard wood will hold up well. You could paint some pretties on the outside of the box but I love the look of the natural wood.
