drying, curing and bud color

can the color of the finished bud be affected by the way it was dried or cured? my last harvest i had 1 plant of skunk #1 and some super lemon haze. now i know they are 2 totally different strains, but they were identical in color when they were chopped. the skunk was less dry than the slh when it got jarred, and it ended up VERY dark when the cure was done. the slh retained its original color. i have never had this happen with any other strain. the color always changes but this was way drastic, it started off lime green and by the end of cure it was almost brown. the whole thing. i'm thinking maybe the additional moisture in the bud before cure may have affected its color. the smoke was fine and the buds didn't taste or smell of mold. perhaps it's just the strain. any thoughts on this?

i didn't actually take any pics because the harvest was so staggered. basically the bud was still shaped nice and smelled and looked good but was shwaggish in color after the cure. i guess i was hoping for general info or personal observations. is it true that the wetter the bud when it goes in the jar the darker the bud will be when it's done, or are there other factors at work? i'm coming up on another harvest in a week or so and i want to retain as much visual appeal as i can. (i'm not selling it i just like it when it looks pretty). i want to be able to have complete control over every aspect of the finished bud, including the color if possible.

Haven't had Skunk #1 in years.. Everytime I smell skunk I think of Skunk #1.

Yes the buds get darker. Im pretty sure it the chlorophyll getting darker. You need to let them get crusty on the out side then cure. The buds inner moister will then redistribute itself. Happy Smoking!!!

The buds should be a grayish color once all of the Chlorophyll is gone.

that's what i figured. all my other bud has pretty much been the same color after cure just a little darker. this harvest i will be doing the dark period before chop and i hope this helps the bud dry a bit better before hanging.
