Drying Rack to Jar

I just dried some bud for 4 days on a rack and put it in the ol ball jar and after about 6 hours its reading about 62% humidity. did i wait too long to put it in or catch it at the right time to still be able to burp it for the first week and not drop below the 55% mark?

4 days isn't even enough drying time. The insides of the buds are probably still very wet.

they where small buds. was a small auto only yielded like 60 grams wet. and apparently they cant be too wet if i said the RH has only gone up to like 64 at the highest...i would think if they where still wet the humidity would of jumped up to 80% pretty quickly.

4 days can be to much, to little or just right depending on where you are curing. If you have a hygrometer (I assume since you have the RH numbers) then just keep an eye on it and burp as needed. If you are measuring the RH in the jar you don't need to burp every day just because thats what the book says

I tend to not rely on what is said with drying and curing. too many variables, location temperature, humidity, dew point, air flow, amongst a ton of other variables. I usually only dry for 3-5 days then jar. If I go any longer than 5 days the bud is dry as a bone and falls apart. Some people will tell you that you didn't dry it long enough because it wasn't 7-10 days, well IMO they don't grow weed.

^^^ I agree with this. 7-10 days might be fine for Florida or South Carolina where humidity is damn near 100 percent sometimes but that long in let's say Colorado and your pot is dust at 7-10 days without a doubt . Once you get an eye for it you will know every time when to jar . Good luck! It's a good problem to have !

Yea I feel u on that. I just had a small harvest. 30g wet. I dry in my dresser drawer. Temp a rough 65-75. No light. Humidity around 40-50%. 100% wood. I hang small branches trimmed on some thin rope fastened down. Took about 3days. I cure in the glass Starbucks drinks. Been in there a few days. Buds feel crisp. After handling your fingers feel sticky. The. Plant smell is going away. I tried a small piece in my bong. Burns well. Small crackle. Mind you only been 6days total dry and cure. Can't wait for the weed smell and taste
