drying with a fan?

good idea or bad idea? have the buds hanging in a closet from a clothes hanger, with a small 8" fan blowing up on them? just thought it would help dry faster? or should i just let them hang by themselves for a few days?

how many days should i let em hang before i drop em in a jar?

here is a pic of my harvest.

plant was around 20+" from soil to tops

topped at 6" or so and grew 3 main colas

you dont want the fan to blow directly on them. you can put it on low and have it stir up the air and leave the door cracked and dark in there. it will prevent mold. drop them in a jar once you can take a stem and it snaps rather than bend. put them in the jar and burp them every 4 to 6 hours for the first few days and keep them in the jar for at least a week

i wouldn't have the fan blowing right on them, maybe have the current bounce off the walls onto the buds. drying too fast can affect potency and taste/smell.

The point is not to dry as fast as possible.........unless you don't care how your bud taste........direct air will dry your nugs faster but you want to let the chlorophyll break down correctly.....and the only way to do that is a relatively slow dry....5 days is good then to the jars to cure for a week at least......and thats a pretty fast dry and cure...but it will do....I know some people that cure for months........

should i fill the mason jars up as much as i can or leave some room?

hey,, im also in the process of curing my buds too.......right now its been drying since monday afternoon... the buds seem very dry and crispy outside, but yet the stem has not snapped yet, hopefully by tomorrow....i've heard from different sources, you are supposed to cure when the stem snaps, and also, you are supposed to cure before it totally dries...im not sure.........Would it be okay to start curing before the stem snaps???

If you pack the mason jars your buds can get smashed and loose some shape.......so it's up to you......

and catfish85 if you think it;s pretty dry then throw it in the mason jar....if it was not dry enough you will know when you open the jar to burp it,it will be real moist, just keep an eye out for mold......it will be fine as long as you let it dry out some more by leaving the lid off for a while or even taking the buds back out and let them dry some more in the open
