Ducting size?

Im setting up intakes and outtakes for tent does it matter what size ducting i use? I have 12inch fan and 12inch filter should i use 12inch ducting? I set it up and it ducting looks huge and overkill can I get away with using reducers and making ducting 10inch or 8inch? I understand cfms im just curious if smaller is better.

if you understand cfms, you'll be able to find a chart that shows how much less your cfms will be going from 12 to 10 or 8. and you'll put extra stress on your fans too.

yes, use the 12 in duct, just makes more sense to do so, however, it does all depend on room size and as mentioned above, a CFM calculator will be your best friend for this question.

Its a 8×16 gorilla I just didnt like how big the duct looks all over the place. Im sure I can get away with smaller ducting but I forgot i can over work the fan. Thanks for the info

no problem. get a fan speed controller. run your fan slower with the big ducts.
