...what was your grow like?

Seed or Clone, and where from?-
Verified pure Landrace, or a little mixed (like the ones I got through Dutch Passion seeds which says there was some unknown Indica crossed with theirs during the ‘80s to help with colder-clim

Climate/Geography?

Hours of FULL-sun?

Flowering time?

Bud-quality; Problem-resistance, Denseness, Yield, Flavor?

Made a similar post for Kwazulu strain. I may breed the two together for a hardy Sativa to grow in low-elevation, coastal Northern California (greenhouse when colder, outside when warmer).

I grow IBL Durban that is not crossed. Been maintained since 1979 and that is verifiable.

So true Durban requires 85+ days. They get at least 9’. They do produce the weight. Don’t know what else to tell you.

It’s still fast for a landrace.

I've grown the Sensi Durban. I don't think it's 100% though. It flowers pretty fast for a sativa so I think it's had a touch of indica added to it. I grew it inside under lights not outside.

Overall it was a good strain. Decent yield and quality. Bud density was good and the taste was citrusy with a touch of pine and spice. It's hard to describe weed tastes as different people have different evaluations. But it's not fruity and sweet. It has a really good flavor profile.

I have some other Durban genetics that I haven't had the chance to grow out yet. But I'm definitely looking forward to getting some of those going.

I have a pack of the World of Seeds Kwazulu. But I'm not even close to getting around to those. The problem I have is that I have too many different strains and I keep making more crosses so I'll likely never get caught up in my lifetime with my small scale growing.

If you grow the Kwazulu keep us updated on it's progress.

That’s great! I know the “true-nature” landrace Durban (and Sativas in general) grow really tall. I’m just happy Dutch Passion was upfront about an unknown Indica being bred with what I have. Said to flower (time-wise) shorter than normal, as well as the aforementioned hardiness to cooler weather. Been introducing them to a healthy wind when the sun is highest/warmest by opening the glass lid to my hottub hothouse. Equinox is coming up in a couple weeks so might 4/5 to greenhouse with a little supplemental light, and flower one in the tub- to try the bud and just to test the easiness and efficiency of blacking it out in my new “room”. I’ve been training all but one (not in tub) to grow more horizontally/short by gently weighting them by near the their tops down towards the lowest bottom of tub.
(I’m too proud of my fun little growhouse experiment and mention it in half my posts- sorry, y’all!)
Nearby, I put in a nice porch area with a firepit and I look forward to having some tall sativas to accent the area, like bamboo, haha. The Kwazulu I have is known for it’s height, too.

I did read that DP in particular is often hybridized to introduce more indoor-friendly genetics but only slighty as to retain it’s remarkable landrace genetics (high thc, hardiness to water issues and general durability- I believe).

Definitely have smoked it before, but mainly in vape cartridge.

Dude- my second round of dropping 5 Kwazulu seeds from World of Seeds, all 5 are up and looking pretty good. Used a common heat mat under heavy-duty plastic dome-tray in Jiffy pellets I poured boiling well-water over, then let cool to warmish; had a veg-led over top, easy-peezy
AND literally only took two days!
So, yeah- seems like a good seed.

Inbred Line. This guy went to Rhodesia in 1979 and retrieved the seeds. Alaska Cannabis Cache. Jim Schenck. Heimie Cheeba. He’s maintained this line ever since.

I have a supposedly Durban poison in flower outside at the moment. I say supposedly because I got them from a little known aussie bank.

She definitely has strong sativa genetics. looking like a long bloom period. I am around 32 days in bloom (since first sign of flower).
Very tall grower although I have her trained down, she is 7+ foot wide in each direction. Was easy to grow, went straight in veggie garden, all organic home made teas for feed. No problems so far except for one little nanna i just spotted.

She gets full sun apart for about 1/2 at sunrise. Southern hemisphere (aus)

She is showing all the right things to produce a good product. Trichomes only just started developing but look promising. Very nice sweet fruity smell, still mild but is stronger each day.
She has a lot of flower that will hopefully chunk up in the next few weeks.

I suppose you folks are nearing summer’s end there. Just coming up into Spring here. Really excited about getting these girls or their clones outside. Might pull off four harvests, overlapped, since I started so early.
Still using supplemental lights to veg but soon I’ll have all the sunlight I need.
Are you able to greenhouse/outdoor winter-crop canna there?
Pic of my old hottub-to-hothouse conversion below. Bottom&seats covered in Mylar. Old safety glass used for lid that I can tie open against posts. Closet “damping” heat rods on platform in bottom middle platform with a germination-station (dome and tray) under two T-5’s.
Sorry mate, it’s only 8:30 am here so not fully opening up yet for pic, but the two middle yellow bags are Kwazulu (~8weeks- small, but will blow up once the sun moves more overhead), trained down; going to let next round that are germing in bottom area grow tall to line my patio! Flanking it are two Banana OG Auto (7weeks), just to try, and get a quick harvest- my generous ass gave away half my stash when I had plenty last winter. Firkin’ first year newb (but had 3 harvests!), hahaha.
Anyhoo, there’s a Freakshow tucked to the right, and under the other lid are 4 DP’s, 8 weeks old, trained by gently weighing their “necks” (couple nodes down from top) with bungee cords. I have one that is my princess who gets to come inside at night and soak under a bright bulb LED until late, then goes out to greenhouse during day. No training.
Speaking of, my stoned ass needs to get to work.

Oh yeah- that poor headless plant in the top of pic is a White Widow that I severely damaged when I left a small heating fan going to long in there. The Durbans didn’t mind, but she was closer, and I am aware WW needs more TLC. She went to og greenhouse but I brought her back again as it gets a lot colder out there. Maybe she’ll survive- any recommendations?

AKBeanBrains has original Durban from the 80s from Nevils Original Seed bank Stock, and takes 75-85 days to finish. It isnt a cross, though Ive not grown it. I belive some here on the forum have, and also crosses of it. I believe Sensi lost some of the original genetics back in the late 90s, and had to make another selection, that has never matched the original. Same for Dutch Passion, Serious Seeds, and others.

Super Sativa Seed club original stock breeder bred to F3. This plant is excellent for producing exemplary concentrates of extreme potency (especially rosin). Heavy metallic terps are the norm.

I grew Canuk Seeds version of the plant this past summer outside in my backyard. I had some white powdery mildew issues with it and and a few other of my plants but survived. It was just a muggy hot summer last year that might of contributed too it. Pretty sure it wasn’t the real real deal but it’s not a bad smoke, and a fav with my buddies I have handed some off too. Got close to a pound dried in the end

Close to a pound? Very nice. Where-ish do you live? -hemisphere, latitude, geography- or something similar.
It’s still technically Winter here in Mendocino Co., but most plants are acting like it’s Spring, so will probably transition to outside by the end of March, past the equinox.
Also- like your garbage can idea- nice deep pottage with easy-move handles.

I live about 40km southwest of Toronto, Ontario. The garbage cans were handy but I did have them tilt over once during a pretty big windstorm. All of them but one garbage can were 96L and the one was 88L.

Yes just the one plant. Mid April is when I have to start watching for overnight frost, so I should be ok, and can make something to cover her if I need an extra week or two.
I was really restricted with height, but I really like the shape she grew into. I need to try and get some overhead photos
As for greenhouse it really depends on which part of Aus you're in. My location I could probs get s couple months more grow time, but I don't have any experience with them, but I hope to build one over winter. I am inland and we have very hot and dry summers, and cold winters.

Your ladies are looking very nice, nice set-up. I look forward to seeing the progress.

Hmm, I could be interested, though I’m hoping to cross a Durban Poison with a Kwazulu and work on phenotypes with that.
