Wise words legallyflying.....

But yeah, if u want to stay with clfs then get them more, as much as u can, and surround your plants with them, about and 2-4 inches away....Everyone has to start somewhere right :hump:

welcome to the world of CFL's Lol.

Not to get in some CFL pissing match as I really could care less what other people use, but HID bulbs are the most efficient bulbs in terms of lumens per watt. Since its lumens that you are after, it makes sense that HID bulbs is where you should be heading. A CFL bulb puts out 60-70 lumens per watt. A HPS bulb puts out 140 lumens per watt. The choice ? pretty simple.

There are plenty of people that do just fine growing with CFL's. Do they grow huge rock star cola's like HID systems.. not typically. Its funny to me how some people create this whole complex system with all this wiring to have like 8-10 CFL twisties mounted all around there grow tent. Why not just get one decent 400 watt hood. Don't get lulled into the whole "no heat issue" bulbs of the same voltage put off the same heat. period.

Some people can't afford hid. And others want to keep their grows small. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. People have to decide based on their budget and needs. I personally use both and get the best of both worlds.

yeah man i hear ya legflyin we have talked about this befor on other threads i ordered a 150 HPS should be here by the 12th and im only gonna be growing one plant under that HPS cuz i hear you get beast results with that low of wattage and just one plant. anymore under a 150 would be a waist preatty much

If your going to go with CFLs then go with T5's, you can buy a 8 bulb set for about, $120 and the light are pretty cheap at home depot,i would say for veg go with 6 6500k and 2 2700k then for flowering go 2 6500k and 6 2700k. all will be a little over $180 cheapest way for a good yeild.... im my opinion

Another thing with CFLs that increases the cost, having to use different sets of bulbs for each stage veg / flour. I would want to use big ones if I used them, and those are like 12-15 dollars each. You can get small HPS ballast and reflector for about the same price now days as buying 4 each@12-15 dollars.

Maybe for a few more days yes.

I don't see any ventilation be it circulation or exhausting heat.
The soil looks extremely dense and muddy. Watch the watering habits as your aeration material is lacking. When you transplant those smaller plants you want to include some perlite in the soil mix to help that out.
The lights look like 2700K soft white bulbs which is very inefficient compared to 6500K day light bulbs. I suggest you go pick up a couple of those bulbs and maybe a couple y-socket adapters. That'd be a great use of $20 and would improve the grow dramatically.

Also, light leaking might be an issue. I'd suggest you save up some money and spend it in the right places. $50 a week for the next 4 weeks would make a big difference and every penny you spend in the grow room you will get back. Keep researching. You're on the right path but you're not there yet.

Tell your buddy to use at least 10 of those bulbs, and even then its doubtful he will yield as much as your 150 W HPS. But of course a 400 watt HPS is the minimum I recommend, you want to grow enough to hold you over until the next harvest and a 150 watt is only going to net you about an ounce. Hope an ounce will last you 4 more months.
