Dwarf plant / Impatient / issues I don’t see?

Week 5 of vegging. Still a pretty small girl. I have done some pruning to avoid having leaves sitting in soil because she is short and to get some better airflow. Took two clones off the bottom, we’ll see how they do since I’ve never don’t clones before but I have all the stuff so I assume I have a decent chance. It’s looking like if I let her veg it out a few more weeks, she might be small but I might also get 8 tops off of her. I could even veg longer until the other two you see in the cups have a few true leaves and then just do them all. That’s is likely what I will do, otherwise I would need another tent soon and it’s something I’d be looking at getting down the road.

New issue- as you can sort of see in the photos, the tips of new growth are turning sort of white/super light green. I have “determined” zinc/sulphur deficiency since I was using RODI water. I have fed with General Organics whole go box but I’m not sure if that would cover those trace minerals or not. I have switched to natural spring water for at least a few watering to get some of those trace minerals back in in case that is the case here. Furnace is out right now which is awful, so I have two space heaters through the house. High temps are only in the 68-71 range and lows at night in the 61-63 range. I figure it’s not the end of the world at this range since cannabis would certainly be having these type of minuscule fluctuations in temps in their natural environment, but I do wonder if that is causing issues with new growth as well.

Anyways, that’s the plan. Did all the pruning and watering 2 days ago, so with these temps she probably won’t need watered again for at least 4 or 5 days. She’s perky and looking pretty good, just on the smaller side.

The plant looks great man. It totally normal for new growth I be a real light color. It will darken up as it grows out! It looks like it wants to grow.

More photos. Topped main stems yesterday again. That will be the last time I top. A lot of growth on such a bushy plant. Going to wait until the two plants in the solo cups get to about 4-5 nodes and I’m going to switch the tent to flower. I have another tent for the clones to veg in for a bit. I’m still not 100% happy with the size of her right now, but I’ll take what I get. Once I switch to flower, I hope for a bit of stretch.

If you veg for another 4-6 weeks you will be much happier although you're going to have to up that light to at least a 400w -600w hps for flowering. Those lights arent going to do much in flower.

I plan on vegging for about another 4 weeks. Maybe only 3 if the one sin the solo cups take off. I would like to buy a new light set up, was kind of leaning towards stronger LEDs. As I said, I have an LED rated for 600w right now but it's only pulling 210 or so, and then I am supplementing with 2 60w CFLs. I was looking at a King Grow LED that is 3000w, but only 500 actual watts on Amazon. Has good reviews, but not overly crazy about the China made part of it, however, there are a lot of LED growers here using china boards so idk. My buddy has a Par meter and he brought it over and checked it at the canopy at 18" and it was 645. I figured that would be pretty good from what I read, but maybe it just isn't enough.

Today was a day of mass pruning. I hated doing it but I feel it was necessary. With such a short and bushy plant. I took off probably somewhere between 15-25 leaves. Some small area on the bottom that would have been popcorn and some big fan leaves that weren’t getting light and having in soil. I’ve supplemented this 200w led with 205 more watts of cfl. Not ideal but it’s what I have until I can get ahold of some HLG quantums. Temps have risen to higher 70s and that’s fine with me. Pictures are before and after pruning.

I admire your perseverance with that girl. 7?weeks from sprouting. How long are the internodes between leaves? Have they started to alternate yet? My Mango Kush from ILGM looked identical to that until I lost patience. I’ll be interested to see if you get any stretch. Good luck.

So obviously this veg process is going a little slow, however you are also very effectively training this plant.

If you tie down all the main branches you'll be able to keep the branches even and stablize the whole plant to the pot so you won't need the bic pen :).

I think your pruning will be a good thing to. I've had plants that vegged slowly and it may have been because I was training so much, but they finished awesome with giant buds because the plants had awesome roots established and a nice sturdy structure to support the buds.

Lol, I just don't see a reason to chop her down if she is still looking healthy. I don't need the space in the tent right now so she stays. I would tie her down more, but if I tie her down too much, then the leaves lay in the dirt. Just going to ride it out

I have decided today that I am going to purchase a 300w HLG quantum board, so that will be here soonish as well. That should help with lighting. Hard to believe 300 watts is viable, but people sing the praises of those lights like mad so I am excited to see. Then again my tent is only 2x4, so there is that. I will probably keep the CFLs in there on the sides too to keep even more light for the hell of it.

So, I didn't purchase the 300w from HLG, I read a lot of forums and decided I would get the HLG 480 knock off from Alibaba. It looks like everything is the same except the heatsink. So essentially it is an $900 light for less than half the price. I'll do some tests on it when it gets here.

Yup, and I may end up moving up to a 4x4 so that would be the intelligent choice if i decide to upgrade eventually

I was looking at the HLG lights the other day. There was one that was 3 boards long and one wide I don't remember which model it was. I wanna say 400ish actual watts from the wall. I was thinking 2 of those might be perfect to upgrade my space to LED. I don't know when I'll have the extra money to do it but I'm seriously considering changing over from Hid. Having 800ish watts evenly spread over a 5x5 sounds pretty nice.

Yea I think you are talking about the 320xl model. I’ll likely keep this post updated with the new lights too so I can tell just how good the Chinese ones are. Half the price is pretty big savings. I was reading another thread about HLG vs Chinese Quantum’s and the big argument was the Chinese was that the Chinese models are made in China. Well, I’m pretty sure that all the parts aside from the Heastink that HLG lights have are also made in China, the diodes themselves for sure are (maybe Korea). Anyways, I’m excited but a little unsure how I’m going to fit such a large light In my 2x4 tent. On paper it fits, but when you add in the carbon filter it will be tight
