DWC 20/gal question

I've just completed my DWC set up with 2 20 gal totes with 4-5" net pots per bin. my question is, if the totes are already a thick plastic and a dark color. Is wrapping them in the foil tape really necessary?

Some are molded darker than others. It really depends on what the chances are for light penetration. Roots do not like light. It can cause all kinds of problems if not addressed. Your choice.

yah, I better just do it. not worth the risk. what size pump do recommend for this size set up (two pumps split between the two totes in case one fails) ? I've been growing in soil for years but this is my first hydro attempt

what about using panda film to cover the containers?

I always do what you mentioned about the air pumps... I usually run 2 containers per tent but run two pumps, one air line to each container that way if one fails there are always bubbles being supplied to the plants just at 1/2 the volume you would normally have but hey your plants will not die. Make sure pumps sit above your water line.

what size pumps would be good for this set up?

Bigger the better but choose a 2 outlet pump or 1 4 outlet but then you lose your back up should it go out... You can always run 4 lines per container 2 to each... I have a 4 outlet pump and it works great! Here is a 2 outlet check Ebay for 4 outlet
