I like the coleman cooler ideas. Drgreentm awesome setup!

I had free cat litter boxes that woulda worked awesome had they not let in light. I used black/white poly and taped it with gorilla tape and just cut a hole in the lid and fitted a netpot into it. Worked good but looked like crap and I was afraid of water getting between the poly and the bucket and sitting there causing bacteria filled water so I bought regular buckets but I'm still going to have to put a layer of poly over the top so it attracts less light.

I would hate to see someone from twin cities saying the orange buckets are fine, and someone from Atlanta trying them. How well they work is a matter of how much heat you have, and/or how much you can control it. I don't worry about the light so much (just use h2o2) as I do the res temps which I'm convinced are holding back the yields on many grows.

Temp is not a problem I have about 20 watt fish tank heaters, 1 for each bucke3t, and the floor is not insulated so even during summer with the ac going ITT being to hot is never the problem, its being to cold. But if ur saying the light is negligible then that is my concern, not to much heat...and I also use h202, works awesome

here is another i grew in a home depot bucket lol, im sure where i live is much hotter then where you live, room temps where 83 when those where grown, never had root problems. keep your room temps down and dont hang a vert hid bulb next to the bucket and you will be fine im sure;)

I am using a 4 inch net pot, the stem wont get that big, so I don't think it matters, the roots just hang int he water, do you think it will adversely effect the plant?

i have used smaller net pots that work just fine. unless you are planning on the diameter of your main stem exceeding the diameter of the pot you should be fine. i also have 6" net pots that i use they come pre fabbed in shape of a 5 gal bucket lid, pop right on to most 5 gal buckets.
