O.K. Here goes...

The Plan:

Strain: Cream of the Crop "Custard Cream"
Strain Type: Feminized Hybrid (Mostly Indica)
Strain Flavor: Heavy Cream/Vanilla
THC Levels: 20%
Odor: Pungent
Distributor: Attitude Seedbank
Grow: Indoor (Grow Tent)
Lighting: 600W HPS/MH
Type: DWC
Medium: Nutrient Solution (Mostly GH Products)

Time Frame:

3 Months of growing
1 Month of curing

I have all the equipment already but need to get the nutes; which I can't get until April. But I have gotten a lot of good information from growers in the forum and some great advice and techniques from YouTubers like HygroHybrid and others. In April I'll begin upload weekly pics with updates and hopefully the final taste test sometime in August!

I'm going for quality vs quantity so its going to be a single plant grow but the yield will most likely be worth the effort.

1ST grow so I'm going to take it nice and slow

I initially wanted to try growing with Nirvana's Blue Mystic since its supposed to be a great for indoor grows but wanted to try the Custard Cream flavor first.

What type of water are you using? Some friends of mine out in the medical states are goin off on House & Garden's Aqua Flakes which is a nutrient designed for pure water (filtered/distilled and below 175ppm). I'm pretty sure that's what HH uses for his shit as well. How are you aerating? Airpumps or with a recirc system?

Everything should go smoothly but I hope I can get the right nute mixture solution for her. I'm pretty much getting everything that HygroHybrid suggests in his DWC tutorials on YouTube. But monitoring PPM's is totally new to me so we'll see...

I bought a 3 stage RO water kit that connects underneath sinks. And I'm just going to use air pumps. Its a single plant grow so I'm going from a 5 gallon DWC bucket to a custom made 10 gallon bucket.

RootRiots to start em. Very low ppm if any (under 50ppm) keep em well moisted/misted. Don't let water collect too much on your tray (can lead to rot early on). Let em hang out until they have several roots busting out around 1 inch out of the bottom of the plug. After they get to this point, it's time to transplant to the net pots.
Don't use Hydroton, I've had a few people warn me that their new product is wonky as shit with their dwc systems. Hydrocorn is a decent root zone product. You want to have a layer of whatever you use as your rocks on the bottom of the net pot, This way your roots will be able to breathe a bit, and your root plugs don't get all shitty. Your sproutling should be about 6-10 inches at this point, depending upon your strain. You want to make sure all the holes in your netpots are covered with rocks to avoid bugs getting in your root zone, or algae slime (also, light can strain your roots a bit.) BUT at the same time, you don't want to have a landslide coming down into your baby, so have a nice even spread of rocks around your stem. You can take off the 2 little pod leaves that come out of the stem, so that you have more stem to cover.
In this early veg stage, you'll want to have around 200ppm, and have your pH right on the money 5.8/5.9. Having anything 5.7 and below can result in a lockout of Phosphorus, which will have a heavy effect on your root growth. Anything too high, and you can lock out just about everything. If you have a pH fluctuation of .2 or less over the course of a few days, don't be alarmed by it, and don't adjust, unless you see signs of nutrient lockout or an unstable pH. In which case, if it's been a 6 days or more, change out your res with your next nutrient dosage (should be included on a calendar, or in AN's case, on the calculator you can find on their website). And just repeat that last bit for a few weeks and PRESTO.

Your pH tips and preparation seems the same as the tutorials I've been seeing and reading but what yields do you get with those low PPM's? The suggestions I'm getting for GH products is starting at 300 PPM and only going as high as 700 PPM. And even this is below the suggested feeding schedule from GH.

In my opinion, it's a lot easier to deal with monitoring your solution & plant response, then adding nutrient as needed. Dealing with salt buildup and nutrient lockout is a fuckin nightmare. Lowball it at first, then kick it up.

I know what you mean, I've seen how nute burning can become a problem if PPM's aren't properly adjusted. I'm going try my concentrations and adjust them if I start seeing and real damage occurring. But this is a first time grow so it will be a trial and error sort of thing.

You should have used Spike for your avatar LOL! :bigjoint:

Just remembered that I won't be able to smoke anything until well after September; oh well school takes priority but I can wait until October! :fire:
