DWC DIY- Need Quick Help

I've seen a bunch of DWC setups, in large rubbermaids and buckets mainly. My question is this... Can I do DWC in a shorter Rubbermaid container? Instead of the one almost everyone uses (that measures about a foot and a half tall), I want to use one that is about 9 inches tall (reference pics below, first pic is of the normal Rubbermaid everyone uses, second is of a short container that fits under a bed- I now I'll have to tape it up to make it light-proof- but that's ok).

I know that the roots will hit bottom pretty fast, and that nutrient solution will change ph and ec faster, but I'm prepared to deal with that. I just have a short grow space (it also tougher for me to get nutes, etc. so I'd rather throw out less when I change nute solution) and want to see it there are any major problems with root tangling etc.

Hope this makes sense... oh yeah, if the small container is to small for flowering, can I at least use it to maintain clones during veg?

Thanks

BRO I have seriously used All kinds of things to GRow DWC in all kinds of different situations. From a 1 and 2 gallon typical KOOL aid jug, 3-5 gallon paint jug,Rubbermaid tub. Bet u could use a mop bucket. And so on and so forth. Sorry but I recently lost all pix stored on this PC.
If you search around U will see I recently used a 1 gallon KOOL aid to clone 2 cuttings in.THe key is air And fresh water and proper feeding.

Do not use METAL...
LIght PROOF
The size of the REZ is what is going to dictate how many plants U can grow as well as.How many water changes and how much you will have to maintain ur system.
The SIZE before FLOWER is whats going to dictate how many plants.

Hope this helps out.

u can use any size container you like as long as you have bubble....i use a good air pump with just an air line no bubble stones....they clog and are shit.....i have one suggestion that will make life for you much easier.....buy two of the totes that way all you have to do is make your nutes and exchange the lid to the other tote then dump the old one and clean it so its ready for next week...this will also help because you can make a clearex res to let your roots soak in....while the roots are soakin in one toat...you can mix your nutes in the other toat.....then just switch em out.....but always clean them inbetween use:joint:

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR TRIAL RUN LET ME KNOW HOW IT WORKS OUT...I MIGHT USE YOUR IDEA AS A VEG BUCKET SO I DONT USE SO MUCH NUTES IN THE BEGINNING.

It's alright. I credit alot of my late success to them. They water when I'm out, I taught them to LST, etc. I have to travel alot and when I had everything hidden from them I had problems with consistency (I also had to go out to dinner with my wife, etc. that made it hard to keep the schedule). I'll send some pics of them someday, so you guys can laugh.

Used to have one that I taught to roll!!! but she left a few years ago. that was great.
