DWC/Flood and Drain table hybrid: keep pump running continuously?

Hello everyone!

This is my first post here, although most of what I have learned about growing has been read on here. So thanks to everyone who has helped me in the past without knowing it

Anyways, I am doing my 3rd grow now and I have a new setup. I made a flood and drain table out of a cement tub and foam insulation board from home depot, and some ebb/flow fittings from my local hydro store. I cut 6 holes in the foam for 8" net pots, which sit atop the mixing tub. I am using 4x4x3 rock wool cubes and clay pellets (I guess they aren't hydroton anymore?). The pots hang above the cement tub with about 5" of clearance between the bottom of the pots and the mixing tub.

The problem: once it drains, a thin film of water remains in some areas of the table for at least 3 hours. I think this is just root rot waiting to happen.

So my question is this: could I run the pump continuously, add two more airstones to the tub, and run a hybrid system? It would basically be a "RDWC table." Obviously I would lower the water level to allow the roots to dangle into it. Any problems with this? Or is the residual water ok?

Thanks a lot!
Btw, plants are looking great and roots are already popping out of the net pots!
