I think it was all part of the learning curve after everything is dialed in it actually seems like less maintenance than soil.
I did side by side comparison and dwc at least in vegg definitely grows faster when done properly.

I think the biggest learning points are preventing root rot, what nutes to use, and how to adjust ph and ppm. I haven't had to touch my DWC system to adjust ph or anything for 2 weeks. In coco hempy buckets, I had to mix up 10 gallons of nutes and hand water every 2 - 3 days.
