ya you can do this. it doesnt matter what medium the mother is in the cutting is its own entity if u will lol. Now taking a cutting that has new roots growing in hydro and stick it in soil that will cause some stress. but for next grow i want to have 2 mothers in soil so that after i get my 8 cuttings i can stick them outside somewhere

I'd just be careful about what soil. To many nutes might cause a shock. I would very highly suggest a soiless (50% perlite, 50% vermiculite) or a "hempy" bucket. Soiless mix will let the plant breathe better, be much lighter to carry, and you can control nutes. You could alsobuild an independent DWC in a bucket... Would solve all your probs...

i am gong to build another dwc bucket . this one without the drip column. ...JUST TO JOIN THIS CLUB.... ive been growing in dwc for 2 years now. i started in a 3 gallon rubbermaid tub w/ a 6 in airstone and a elite 801 airpump. now i use 5 gal buckets w/ a 10in net pot, hydroton as a medium ,a 48in flexible air diffuser with a 120gal whisper air pump. my last grow i did 4 dwc buckets and got 1 lb + off of 1 1000w light. this grow i added drip columns so it wont count for this clubs purposes but....................next time i go a 5 gal bucket a 6 in net pot a 48" diffuser and a 120 air pump w/no drip column. this will start in jan after this harvest.. i one day plan to grow 1 plant in a 10 gallon rubbermaid tub with 4 air pumps and diffusers on a 1 month veg 2 month flower cycle under 1 1000w light and my hopes are to pull a pound

I said "DIRT" plan old black dirt from the barn. I can match the the nut level, not an issue. The roots are my concern. Does water make them grow different.
Guess I'll just try it and see.

Peace

Stand alone DWC is still not portable but a good idea.
Thanks

Depending on the root system growth, you might/will cause the plant to hermi. Added stress will indefinitely cause some damage.

Well that would suck, a hermi mother.
OK, I'm going to do the standalone DWC for the mothers. This way I can move them to my friends house while he is cloning. I just need them here for a couple of days a month. I got room issues, need more!
