Alright, I'm starting my first hydro grow and I've decided to try and rig up a DWC system. I've heard they're pretty easy so I decided to give it a try, but I've got a few questions.
I've got a 18 gal tote for the res, and I plan on growing 4 plants in it.
First thing I want to know, is if it's likely that the roots will grow together. I've read a lot about how when growing in a dwc the roots tangle, and if you've got males to pull the roots stay and could grow root rot, or just damage the other roots. Is there a way to prevent them from growing together, like dividers or something?
Second, since it's unlikely that I'll be able to buy anything off the interweb and due to the sad lack of hydro stores in my area, I'll have to find an alternative to hydroton. Pretty much something I can get at Ace hardware. Or could I just use aquarium gravel, or marbles?
Also due to the lack of hydro stores around, I wasn't able to find any hydro specific nutrients, so I got some Jacks Classic stuff. I'm still hazy on how to mix up a complete hydro solution, but I've heard it involves mixing it with Peroxide and Epsom salts. If anyone knows for sure, and can give measurements, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, mates.
