DWC help

heyy Ive been following this guide on building a DWC system http://cannaversity.com/cannaversity/idx.php/13/097/Hydroponics/article/Recirculating-DWC-Bucket-System.html
and im confused with wat to do wen i get my seeds and they have gremed wat sld i grow them in first befor i put them in too this system taking into account that i have a 400watt hps light above it all

you should of germinated the seed in some type of starter cube. Then put that in the medium of your choice i.e. hydroton. then let her growwwwww

Rockwool then when she shows roots into the hydron and netpot

how far above the 2 plants should i have my lights wen they have just been put it and when i put the rock wool in the net basket wld i put it in so roots are comin out of the bottom or like half way down ?
