I'm confused about this set up lol. Is it even dwc? I don't knock anyone who builds their own stuff I just don't see the point, especially the coco/hydroton part. Maybe I'm missing something idk. When you lift the lid what does your root ball look like?

i think the top container is kinda like a netpot that sits on top of the tote? there is a hole below it for the roots into the lower res.

it took me a few looks to figure it out too.

The plant are too small for the rubbermaid.. a good way to profit this system is to switch it to make a DWC and Drip Hybrid system just like the old days Hydrofarm bucket system, because the roots are mostly located in the clay pellet i would say.

A good rubbermaid plant should look like that, to put a plant inside this beast system you need to fill an entire 5 gal with roots

My actual grow : GG4 45 day into veg :

i dont know how big your pot is but i use a 10L for mine and late in flower it gets full.
if you think your plant doesnt get enough air from an airpump do a full ress change if he gets better and in 5 days goes bad again its the lack of air.

i tried kratky method and plant acted like your plant every 5 days she would eat all the o2 and then it would stop growing and just drop down

that is a really small container for such a large beast. how often do you have to refill it? i remember my tiny plant drank 2L a day in flowering

A good size 5Gal plant will drink the whole bucket in 1 and half dayz or so, this one was very similar drinker. Maybe 30 gallons each 48 hours.

The GG4 root zone, switched into the rubbermaid 35 Gal from a 5gal 5 days ago !!! I have 7 airstones and also one 300gal waterpump in the bottom who just mix the water.DSCF1972.JPG

Look real good
Notice a difference with pH stability?
I never check the PH to be honnest, i have real good succes using only A/B CaliPro with city water with no special treatment or R/O, my dosage fit perfectly and act as Ph- to drop my 7,2 tap water very close to 6.

I always just used 5 gallon buckets, an 8 inch net pot filled with hydroton, and an airstone in each bucket. That's what I kept my mothers in. I'd do DWC again but it's too much of a hassle in a 4x4 tent. When I did I was growing in a basement with a drain and a water source. When I needed to change out the nutrient solution I'd just mix a new batch and put it in another bucket. Then I'd just pick the plant up by the net pot and set it into the new bucket.

I still have all my net pots so maybe one of these days I'll do a DWC grow again. But I've found coco to be easier and less hassle free. The growth rates are the same.
