For N in Veg;
Mix: 5% x 2g/gal = 10
Cal-ni: 15.5% x 3g/gal = 46.5
Add these two; 10 + 46.5;
Total = 56.5, you got 46

Is what you said to use. So I calculated it based on that. Same school of thought I used. I was just using the wrong g/gallon

No. For veg, I said use 3g/gal of calcium nitrate. Use 2g/gal of this for bloom.
2 grams per gallon of mix whether it's veg or bloom, this to simplify the use of the stock solution you make it into before use.
1.5g/gal of epsom salt, again, always
.5g/gal of MKP in bloom only.

I'm in RDWC, 80f, 70% RH.

I run veg throughout the veg stages and in the first nutrient batch of bloom. I run the bloom mix from there on out to finish.

IMPORTANT; I had less than consistent results when I scooped out the dry mix as I needed it. This is because of the way it's mixed and settles during storage. To solve this, take a substantial amount and make a stock solution. Mix this stock solution every time before drawing some out to use.

The rest of the nutes can be weighed dry, as they're just a single chemical.

I know you were saying you had less than consistent results mixing it with the res change, 5lb box is half the price as a 25lb bag, but if I made a 55gal stock that would last 2 years. Wouldn't it go bad? Im thinking of taking 5lb or so batches out of the 25lb bag. Im sure it wouldn't be AS consistent as mixing the whole bag, but should be fine.

How do you prevent baddies from growing in your stock tank? Even at 5lb batches thats 1100 gallons of final solution. About 22 weeks at 100gal bi-weekly res changes is a long time for water to just be sitting.

Pretty much a 2-1-2 in veg and a 4-5-7 in flower

My stock tank is dark, so no light to encourage growth. Also, the level of salinity is much higher than seawater, damn little COULD live in that brine. Same as soy sauce; it's so salty that nothing lives in it, a natural form of food preservation.

Stir to mix it thoroughly before decanting for your res every time, there is something in it that settles over time but a quick stir and it's fine.

So far as I know, there is no limit to the shelf life of prepared stock solution as long as it's kept in the dark at near room temperature. I'd also be sure the container used will seal well, as natural evaporation would screw with your ratios over time.

http://www.plastic-mart.com/product/8576/10-gallon-plastic-water-tank was looking at this. $60 is kind of steep for a 10gal container. I had figured the salt content would kill or prevent anything from growing. This tank is food grade polyethylene. Shouldn't react with any of the contents.

Some reason hydro-gardens only has 50lb bags of MKP. 25lb bag of Calcium nitrate is $24 and a 25lb bag of the 5-11-26 is $43 on sale but for some reason only comes up as original price at checkout. $72 and $50 to ship it lol. I wonder if theres any local places selling it. I could drive to NYC for $50. I contacted Haifa to see if they had any distributors in my area. No response yet.

Definitely see some cost savings here. Also some waste. Is this good for the environment? My plants were using about 1gal per day at 14 day res changes thats 4 gal per day at 14 days thats 56 gallons. So at the end of my 2 week res change i'll have 44 gallons to waste.

Call Hydro-gardens.com and talk to them. They've admitted in the past that they had smaller sizes than what they show on their website.

I only discard used solution, so I don't see the waste involved? I'd suggest putting your waste nutes in your yard, garden, etc.

Well it would be used. But say I fill up system at 1.7EC and in 2 weeks its still 1.7EC id still have to get rid of it?

Called up hydro gardens today.

Getting boned on shipping. 60 dollars to ship 84 dollars worth of product.

25lb bag 5-11-26 $48.00 should be $45.60 as its on sale but oh well.

25lb bag calcium nitrate $22.95

5lb box MKP $13.95

And ill just buy epsom at walmart to spare myself having to pay for shipping. Was $1/lb on the website and prob costs just as much to ship. Think I can get a 5lb bag for $6 or 7

Stuff should last 2 years. $75 a year for 2600 gallons of feed. Not bad.

$75 will get you liter bottles of a base like heavy16 and a liter of calmag
