Pretty straight forward question, just wondering if DWC growing is easier than soil
Yeah ideally maximize the potential of each grow and easier in regards to controlling the medium in a way that if something starts to go wrong it can be corrected easily and avoid hiccups as much as possibleDefine easier, and, what are your goals? Just to grow a plant to harvest, period? Or will you want to maximize the potential of the plant?
Deep Water Culture. Roots grow in an aerated, water/nutrient solution in a large reservoir.Dum question but what is DWC?
A cursory look at autopots says they CAN be used for hydroponics as well as soil, but that probably just means soilless hydroponics, which isn't the same as DWC hydroponics. Soilless (Pro-mix) uses a soil-like but inert mix that the roots grow in. DWC, roots just grow in water. The rest of the plant is suspended by a net pot usually filled with something inert like expanded clay.its like growing in a auto-pot then?
Thats why I enjoy RDWCAll you need for DWC is some 5 gallon black buckets, net pots, hydroton, air pump and stones.
I ran DWC years ago. It's a great method but too much hassle for me these days changing out nutrient solution, dealing with hydroton. I stick with coco and soil these days. You might want to look into coco as well. Some say it's difficult but I've found it to be as easy as it gets.
I still have all my net pots and buckets. I use the buckets for this and that but the net pots haven't been used in years. When I grew DWC I was growing in a basement with a drain and water outlets. It's too much hassle lugging things around to change out the nutrient solution. So you might want to think about that as well before you decide which way to go.
Here is my SIP prototype.
