Dying Clones

these are a few pics of the area i set up for the clones & soils. You see that 4 soils are housed under 2 CFL's. The clones were misted, then I put the hood on after removing excess water in the resevoir. I have all 7 clones in the tray under 1 CFL. I have a second CFL that is set on the other side of the hood but I thought a bit less light would be better for the stressing clones.

Possible Problem Areas:

1. I initially kinda stick the clones into the rockwool to stand up and have a firm stance. Maybe I should just rest them inside a deeper hole set in the rw, thats the only thing I can think of that I might have done wrong.

2. I also did not mist the leaves for the first few days. Its been about 5 days and I just found out that I should mist the leaves themselves rather than the hood. after about the 2nd day the leaves started to droop, then I added water to the resevoir. I then learned that this was too much water and I took the water out, wiped the hood, and misted the leaves.

its been about 3 days since...are they still alive or should I repeat the process and try again.

Well, they're not dead until they are dead. I would trim those lower leaves down, redirects energy to rooting. Remember depending on strain it can take up to two weeks before fully rooted.

would adding more root juice to the rockwool near the stem help it out any or would that be not good in any way?....

they still look good,i did mine by the clones just feeding off the moisture in the rockwool,i never had to mist or wipe the tray, they lived in that humidity for a few weeks with air only after the third day,the rockwool should of had enough water in it to last a few weeks if soaked properly.and the rooting harmone provided what they needed on the first dip.i wouldnt wipe the hood let some humidity build up,but this was my first cloneing in 30 years, good luck.

I have also had a similar problem. I will post a picture of my plants. I have 3 clones and 2 of them are doing good. I put them in soil 2 days ago and watered them with 1quart of water each. The 2 healthy ones sucked it up so I gave them water again. 1 of them is almost dead. She looked bad and I was reading some posts and it sounded like she needed more water. I don't know if i should take her out and put a new one in or if there is still hope. I have a 600watt HPS light going but its on 75% dim so est. 450watts. I was planning on keeping on water for a week and then starting with my half strength nuts. Any help is appreciated.

That was/is a trip... u resurrected a 3.5 year old post... lol And would suggest you back that light off quite a bit... you can root clones underneath an overhead flouro ballast in an office, in a cup of water on a desk... so long as you change the water out daily. They don't need much & you might be killing em w kindness, ya know? gl tho ;-)

I'm very happy to do so! Haha. I moved the light about 3 feet from the plants. The two are really perked up but that one looks done for. I'm going to wait until tomorrow around noon and that one is still bad I'm taking her out. How far do you keep the lights from them once you start to see growth?

Dude the plants look totally heathly ! !...... THey will droop a little like that untill they shoot out roots...They might even turn a little yellow, but it's cool, once the roots shoot out and you transplant it, the green will come back and they will start to grow....Just give it time bro

My honest advice to you. And I have 100% success rate with cloning.

The reason your clones look like that is that they have not rooted. It is unlikely that they will now root, even if a few make it they wont be great plants.

Take new cuttings and make sure you use rooting solution. Stick them in the rockwool like you have, everything as you did. But make sure you have humidity to 100% inside the dome from the first few minutes till they have rooted. That means spraying them and the hood, at least twice a day.

If you have made a clean cut when you take the cutting and use rooting solution correctly and ensure you keep the humidity up they should start rooting in 7 days. In 10 days you will see the roots come out the rockwool and the you need to start redusing humidity and opening the hood slightly getting them use to the growrooms atmosphere etc. you get what I am saying....

The are looking better every day. I was surprised when people said that they would not get better. I gave them each 1 quart of water when that one was looking bad. Now about 12hrs later, the 2 look good and perky, and the one that was dying is finally starting to lift up. Do you guys think they are not going to grow still? I also moved the light about 3 feet above the plants for less heat stress and dropped the wattage to 300watts. Someone also suggested to me to use super-thrive. Would it now be too late to add that? Today is the 4th day they have been in the pots. Thanks again guys and girls!
