Yo how do you guys test the run off water? I'm having kind of the same issue using all the fox farm nutes.. I guess you guys are saying I should give my plants like 6 gallons of 6.5ph nutrient filled water?

I probably would switch to hydro but I've already got plants vegging half gallon bags of ocean forest...perhaps hydro for the go around after next. Was thinking about going aero as well but heard so many things can go wrong

hey Jack,

I've done your PH test again.
First I shook up about a tablespoon of soil with distilled water at 6.0 and got a reading of 6.0 I then used regular tap 7.0 and got a reading of 7.0 surly I must be doing this wrong? Maybe because I'm using the PH drops instead of a meter?
The drops are for shit. Get a meter. Worst case you can get a decent one at most higher end aquarium stores. Also test a larger sample, 3 or 4 tbsp.

a meter it is...I'll have to pick one up. I'll probably go hydro at some point in the future so I might as well pick one up now. Any models in particular you'd recommend?

I used to. Those pics in my avatar where from my last Ebb & Flow. I've been trying soil after years of growing Ebb & Flow. I had that shit down and got bored (I know that sounds weird) and I've been wrapped up the last couple of years trying to get growing in soil down 100%. I have no reason to believe that this can't be done and it's easier than hydro physically. I don't use 1/2 the water, don't need to lug and move lots and lots of the stuff. Cleaning trays, cleaning hydroton, cleaning reservoirs, kind of a pain in the ass.

But the plants, oh my God the plants. I will probably end up back there, may even be on the next grow, but so far so good with this one.
