Early Nitrogen deficiency?

Hey guys, first grow here and I think I’m seeing some nitrogen deficiency in my month and a half old clones. Repotted into 2 gal pots with ocean forest 2 1/2 weeks ago, feeding megacrop, ph going in is 6.1-6.3. Thanks!
How many times have you fed your plants nutrients since you transplanted 2 1/2 weeks ago?

Looks like toxicity and not deficiency. I could be wrong but I say this because of the pattern. Usually nitrogen deficiency starts at the bottom and effects leafs as a whole. Your leafs look like they're mostly effected on the tips and edges. This would cause me to think that its nitrogen Excess.

Good luck!

2-3 times. Still learning with Megacrop and people will even start seedlings at 1g per gallon every watering which is what I’ve been giving. If it is a toxicity I’m guessing even with the light feed the Ocean forest was too hot. What options do I have without flushing?

I would suggest water only for a while.
I would not flush.
Maybe people start seedlings with mega crop in some mediums but I doubt they are doing it with ffof.
ffof is a water only soil for the 1st 4 or 5 weeks.
I agree with Medicated Bonsai, it does not look like N def, it looks more like overfeeding.

You're drying them out too much and salts start to build up. Now when you water/feed those salts dilute in the water and burn root tips.

Could very well be possible. When I put them in the 2 gallon pots they didn’t wilt for over a week so I didn’t water them, I thought that was strange. Something to consider thank you.

Jordan,
If that is a lockout...the chevron leaf pattern is from K+ deficiency due to malabsorption. Similar interveinal chlorosis appears with Mg++ deficiency. Though that starts at lower leaves.

Since you're going with water only for awhile...why not put a little Epsom salts in the water. No more then 1 tsp/gal. Won't hurt and may help.

And I've read that FFOF does best with around ph 6.4 feeding...just a little higher then you're at. Small thing but when resolving an issue...even small things can help.

PS Mg demands are very strain related. White Widow and other "white" strains need extra Mg. So research your strain.

Quick update and thanks for all the input, this forum has helped out tremendously so far in my first grow. (These are actually cuts I took from my first grow which are in flower, and first time cloning ever so technically this is my 2nd grow?) anyways this them today, water only seemed to make them much more happy and morevibrant than ever. They are actually starting to crowd up my 3x3 in just a matter of days.

Thanks man. It’s fun, I love learning to grow. I hate asking for help, glad I did though otherwise I probably would have increased feeding, this little bit of advice alone probably saved this entire tent.

Edit: Anybody that is curious these are under a 4200k 315w CMH.

I feel you. I'm not on my first grow, but also been growing for only 5 years so every grow is a challenge and my eviro keeps changing. Always something new and something different always something to figure out. This run is the first time I mixed coco in my recycled soil and learned to never let it dry out.

Took me a while to figure it out. Plants looked overwatered but were actually crazy thirsty. Figured it out after pulling one of them out of the pot and had a look at what's going on in the root zone. Roots were growing alright but plants were wilted and unhappy because it was all too dry.

Mornin' guys,
Jordan...interesting choice of light. I picked up an older led that was a little weak on white light...so I supplement the white light with two 315s. I also am back to growing after a hiatus. Still working on the setup though I have fired up the CMHs. Very bright white light. Am looking forward to using them. Yours is certainly doing a nice job.

ApfelStrudel...your plants look good. Coco and soil are very different types of media and mixing them can get complicated. What % of coco in the mix?
Cheers,
JD

Thanks m8

I'm guessing about 20% and about 20% perlite. Works like a charm as long as those pots are saturated. Also no overwatering issues anymore.

Thanks Apfel,
Sounds like a nice mix. So you never let it dry out completely? Give me an example...pot size and how frequently you water, if you would.

Pots are about 12l (3gal) and I water/feed daily until I see some water comming out the bottom. No real run off. I treat it like coco on this part keeping it wet but feed like soil. No pH-ing just straight tap from seed until about 2 weeks before flower or if they need a feed earlier. 2 weeks before flower I give them 2ml/l biobizz grow, one week before flip 4ml/l if they can take it and 2 weeks in i cut grow back to 2ml and add bloom at 2ml. From there on it depends on how they behave and mostly cut the grow part out and feed bloom at 4-5ml/l, week 4-5 top max is introduced at full strength so the feed all together comes out at about 8ml/l. I also use biobizz heaven if they get cranky, topdress epsom every other week and add mycorrhizae with molasses every 3-4 weeks.

Seeds are started in 1.5l pots and transplanted after about 1-2 months depending on the vigor of the strain.

First...Jordan, I hope you don't mind this little hijack, but I wanted to pick Apfel's brain a bit.

@ApfelStrudel ...thanks man. Nice reply. You've given me a few things to think about. 9 plants in a square meter is way dense...but the plants look great. Nicely done. I'll PM you if I need more info on your approach.
Cheers guys,
JD

I'm sorry for the hijack too but in the end OP might get a few good ideas out of this.

@JohnDee pick my brain any time you wish. I'll hang around here for a while.

And yes 9 plants was pushing it. Got lucky and my filter got clogged so had no air circulation and lost 25% crop due to mold
