Whats gunna happen is when your ro membrane gets old it gunna leak all that salty water softener water into your ro water reservoir. Might be leaking it now. Might be a good time to check your ppms of your well water of your soft water water and your ro water and see what they all are.

Your plant looks nice, it sounds like you have grown before and know what your doing. Yes the plant should be back under the t-5s and the slow growth may be from light shock if you dumped that 400 right on top of it and freaked it out.

I will reply to this later. I’m really tired ha. But I’m buying r/o water from a grocery store bc I just moved and we have salty water
 
That was not meant to sound nasty but it kind of did when I reread it. I think I didn’t explain the situation well enough. We actually do have that slimy salty water coming out our faucets. It is what it is. It dries out my skin but I can deal with that ha. I’m not going to give that soft water to my few plants though,..hence one of the reasons I bought r/o water. Another reason is that the more I learn and grow, the more I want to know exactly what my plant is receiving. This is also why I’m switching to hydo soon. I’ve had my time with soil

The ppms are low enough that my truncheon doesn’t detect any
 
As to your point about (why would you use an r/o system if the water has a softener....is because a softener takes all the hard elements out causing you to not go through a million filters for your r/o machine. It was a long reply you wrote ha,...so I broke it down as you see

ok but the guy running the machine --changes filters cleans it whatever-doesnt give a fuck. so how low does that ppm wand go to-- what does it need to be at for it to register. Im confused on your water if you have a water softener of just shitty water. If you go hydro your gunna want to figure it out cuz your not gunna wanting to be lugging gallons upon gallons of water from the store. A nice digital ppm meter is what you need and if you go hydro you need a really nice QUALITY ph meter FOR SURE. Maybe my version of hydro is different from your idk. I use hydroton I check my ph everyday.

I didnt say why I said you shouldnt but that doesnt mater right now cuz you get it from the store
 
I need to start growing again quickly. I don’t have time to figure out the messed up water situation at this new house. My quickest and cheapest option right now is filling 3 gal jugs with r/o water from the grocery store that’s behind my house. It’s not ideal, but it’s far from worth getting upset about. Plus, knowing what is in your water helps in so many ways. With tap, your just guesiing
 
When I switch to hydro after I take cuttings from this cutting,..I will be glad I know how to work with r/o water

Right on but if you have well water and its decent you might not have to invest in a ro machine. You would have to use a water source (faucet) that isnt water softened water if you have a water softener. And I would never hook up an ro machine to a faucet that has been treated with a water softener.

Right before I moved, I had installed an r/o water system to our city tap water. I wasn’t around long enough to use it though for my grows ha. That was “my ideal setup” for water source. I heard, like many things, there are ups and downs to adding a softener before adding an r/o system. The previous owner had an r/o system here in use. They took the system but left the faucet where the r/o water comes out. I really haven’t been able to give much time thinking about how I’m going to fix the water situation here or if I even can. This was my next closest option
 
Ok if your only doing a few gallon of water thats cool. When I do a water change I need up to150 gallons of fresh water. So Im not going to be going to the store to get it. I use an ro machine, I just didnt want you running water softener water through an ro machine.

Haha no way would I be doing that either if I were using that much water. I can see where you are coming from with your points . I’m just growing for myself and my mom, so a few plants with a good yield keep me happy. Growing less plants also helps me to focus on the “whys” and “how’s” of things. I’m still waiting for the parts for my diy reservoir, so I’m currently storing my plain r/o water in one three gallon jug....and another three gal jug with my mixed solution (I know, those ratios are off I’m sure), but yea. So that leads me to the question of storage...do I need to oxygenate the water in those jugs, or will they be fine as long as I’m refilling them on a weekly basis. I can’t seem to find a good way to word that question lol.. don’t worry if it doesn’t make much sense to you
