hmm, would it have to be upright ie, not on its side, if it was wouldn't the carbon all be on the bottom of the pvc and air could get through the top without going through the carbon?

yea, if you do it like the video and also put some foam on top the foam will keep the carbon from getting out of wack.

yeah just get a fan to suck the smell out of the closet and blow it into the carbon and away goes the smell!

what you do with this is , you get some aluminum ducting and connect it outside from you exhaust fans to one end of the carbon scrubber , thus the fan is blowing through the vent into the carbon and out smelling clean.

you need to have exhaust fan blwoing the air out , and no other escape routes for smelly air .

i also found some carbon cloth at a pet store so i taped that over the end as well , can never have enough carbon lol.

its true, carbon is great! i've got a grow box that i still need to seal up better(caulking arond all the edges) to completly get rid of the stank but for the most part the carbon scrubber gets rid of the majority of the smell.

I tried getting some pvc pipe and attaching it to the end of a fan and then put the activated carbon in it. It works ok, but definitely doesn't eliminate the oder. I think a fan the had a higher cfm would do the trick maybe.

try blending your carbon into dust , and then putting it in a pantyhose ( stop it going every where) And make sure your room has no other exits for the odor , has to be air tight , only air that comes out of that room is through that filter.

Do a google search for ryoko carbon filter , he made an excellent one.

A problem I think you would run into is that I think this would seriously stress-out a fan the larger you tried to make it. I guess they key would be to find some way to allow enough airflow through the filter to not overwork your fan but keep it dense enough to do its job as an odor eliminator.

With the price of quality carbon filters I think its an interesting concept with good potential, seeing as how you could empty and refill it when it seemed spent.

Ill be sure to tinker with this one and keep you folks updated if I come up with a decent design.
