advanced nutrients have a good reputation, but they're really expensive. I've never tried them because I'm too cheap to pay that kinda money for nutrients when I get great results and yields without them. I use a combination of Neptune's Harvest and AGE OLD Grow and Bloom. Simplest, easiest, old school organic nutes out there, works great for me.

I'm "old school" as well, and use MG as part of my nutrient mix.

My advice is to learn as much about nutrients as you can before spending big bucks on them.

I use Advanced Nutrients, and this is why. All the other nutrient companies are straight up corporate pigs. Advanced nutrients is owned by a person, I have met him, he invites you via video into his home, explains what he is doing, will even recommend some else's nutrients if he finds it to be a better product. Their products are good, solid, made for pot grower's. The best nutrients if you are actually old school come from your garbage can, or juicer, not some factory in China. For outdoor growing I have been using Advanced Nutrient Heavy Harvest, solid product, use it and forget it. It is expensive, but than so is lung cancer. Good Luck with any route you decide on, really, and not to sound like a complete ass (which I am), I have used Miracle Grow, so if you decide to, just remember to use the fertilizer for veggies, not potted plants. What goes into the plant goes into you.:peace:

You're saying the makers of one of the most expensive nutrient lines are NOT "corporate pigs"?

I'm not saying don't use AN products, but try to make informed decisions.

I started gardening long before custom nutes became available, and have learned along the way.

My methods are based on long experience, and might seem strange to someone without fifty years of gardening experience, but they work.

Yes, I compost and save various kitchen waste. What is available to me is insufficient for my needs, so I purchase various components when they're on sale.

MG is one of those. Others include 21-0-0, 20-16-0, 16-16-16, 0-10-10 and Ironite granules for micronutrients. Also, for micronutrients, I use Seaweed emulsion, Fish emulsion, volcanic ash, and epsom salts. Bioenhancers include Cytozyme products, Superthrive, and symbiotic soil borne organisms. (can't remember their Latin names, off hand.)

Yeah, Advanced Nutrients work well, but what I do gets the job done for 1/4 the cost.

I really like Advanced Nutrients and I've found them to be easy to use for the most part. I think newbies might be a little overwhelmed by how many you can use at once, but as you get comfortable, it becomes all the easier to figure out what you need - and what you don't.

Sure, the nutes are a little more expensive than others, but I don't think this should be an argument against them.

In fact, I've always found I use less than the nutrient calculator and the instructions on the packages. And then the nutes last longer and end up costing about the same as anything else - and they're way better.

Wouldn't you want nutes that work over cheap nutes that don't work? Having to scrap grows in the past because of using crappy nutes, I've learned that lesson. Too well.

STAY AWAY from Miracle Grow. It's just a bunch of crappy chemicals that I wouldn't want to smoke. Too toxic and the stuff I have smoked from growers who've used that crap is nasty. I want high quality smoke, not the kind that's probably hurting my lungs more than it should.

My two cents. Lots o good advice on this board - go RIU folks!
