EBay 900W Cheap LED grow. (56K RIP)

Thought I might as well share my grow with this cheap 900W Chinese Ebay LED I got for $260.
First some specs on it.

Advertised as 900W 150X6W,
From wall it pulls 600W so that works out at 150X4W
Has a mix of red and blues mainly and 4 yellow LEDs.

Seeds are 3rd generation from past grows that I had gotten originally from bag seed.
Satavia strain, Which had really good luck with for females. Always only getting 1 or 2 males out of 15-20 odd seeds.
And Finished plants have had 5-8 seeds in them each in the lower buds with out being pollinated or going hermie.


Here some pics from past grows using them.
Out door, about 14 weeks veg, 6 weeks flower, Finished at 8 weeks.
5 O dried from 2 plants, 3rd little plant didnt do to well so just used it for cooking.
Bigger ones were 4 1/2 foot tall.
Worked out at $40ish per O after everything.


Indoor under CLF, 4 weeks veg, 8 weeks flower
1/2 O per plant had 4 of them at 1 1/4 foot tall.
Worked out at $70ish per O


Indoor under HPS,
13 week veg, 8 weeks flower.
7 O dried from 3 plants, Ended up 5 1/2 foot tall.
Worked out at $90 per O




So on to the pictures of this grow.

LED


Seeds were sprouted in wet paper which took 4 days to separate from the shell.
Then were planted into party cup and left in the window sill for 3 weeks.

Week 4
I transplated to 1gal pots which they will finish in. Legal limit of plants here is 4 per person.


Sadly the taller one started to show that it was a male so was pulled.
Wasnt too bad since flat mate and partner also had there 4 growning so I took one of my partners one and added it to my 4 to replace the male since she was just growing out doors.
Flat mate decided to stick his 4 under the LED as well since CFL didnt seem to be working to well for him.

Week5


Week6
not too much progress. But started to draw up plants for a tent.



Week7


Week 8
Moved into tent and some LST started.


Week9
Topped and light raised from 16inch to 18inch to try get some stretch.


Week 10
Can see 2 main steems now and raised light helpped stretch.


Week 11
Added 3070 LEDs to supplement some of the light getting to the side plants and add a bit more colour in since have been fighting a MAG def.



Week 12
Mag def under control using 2X calmag plus in each feeding. Was planing on switching to flower at this stage since they are all 1 foot+ and under HPS these stretched 3X height during flower. But decided to do another topping.


So as its looking going to have 2 more weeks of veg to recover from the topping and give me time to set up some screens for each one.

Will update thread next when switching to flower.

Week 13 Showing a bit of N toxicity so have been feeding at 1/2 strength. But recovered from topping very quickly.



Week 14 Have given them 3 days of 15/9 since N toxicity has gone and everything else is looking perfect under normal light. Have just set timer to 12/12 just now.



Here is a picture from week 13 under normal light after giving them a wash down which I do every 2 weeks during veg.


Now all thats left to do tonight is one last Neem treatment before the lights go out, And give the floor a good clean and change air intake filter so everything is nice and clean for the flowers.

Update from first week of 12/12
2nd day in a male showed its self so it was cut.
5th day in 2 Hermies showed so the better one was was gifted to my brother and he will let it seed its self. The other was cut.
So that leaves 5 females and cleared some room. So I moved the 3 out doors I had that I dropped the seeds in the dirt about a month and half ago so they are quite small but about 4 weeks into flower already.

They already had a very nice strong oder so had to switch my carbon filter on.



Also switched on my 2X Cree 3070 lights, So that brings up my total lighting power from the wall to 648W, Which has changed the lighting colour to a much deeper purple.


Stretch seems to be 1/2 a inch each day.
Have stopped feeding N other then the N thats in the cal mag.

Will update next when the flowers start to show.

Cool thread. Will you pot up? And how tall do you expect them to get in the end?

Have you thought about flowering longer? 8 weeks is short for sativa. I think you could get more out of them. They look good.

Expecting about 3 foot tall, Not going to pot up since used same size pots under HPS and didnt have too much trouble other then having to water more often.
Flower for as long as it takes to get the trichomes cloudy to amber ratio im after. Which is about 1/4 amber, Most cloudy. Could easily leave for another 3 weeks going from my other grows but I dont really like that sleepy feeling from high amber ratio since it makes me lazy.


So far im surprised by how well the LED has done.

Is the LED in the picture the LED you got off ebay as advertised 900w? Is it just one panel or did you get 3? It is the same exact LED panel I have in my grow room now but I bought mine on amazon and it was advertised as 300w and was $140. It is identical down to the 4 yellow LEDs. If I can get 3 of those suckers for only $240 I am going to be stoked! Just hung mine last night. And the plants are in love with it. Your plants seem to be doing great. I am so glad I choose to go with the LED.

Seller had 4 options and all basically looked the same physically expect the 300W which only had a single fan on it.

750W 150X5W leds $240 3.12W per $
450W 150X3W leds $160 2.81W per $
300W 100X3W leds $140 2.14W per $

So getting the 900W was a bit of a no brainer since had the best $ per W value and the 6W leds should penetrate a bit further.
If I was to start off again would of just gotten a whole heap of Cree 3070 Cobs. Dam they pump out the light and easy enough to put together yourself.

Whats your 300W pull from the wall since they never run at there advertised wattage since the LEDs are normally driven some where between 1/4 and 1/2 there rated values.
So id be expecting something like 100-150W from your 300W led which is only really enough for 1 or 2 plants.

Pretty cool to know there are more options! I must have a newer version. Mine has 2 fans... or maybe that gave me a more powerful light by accident. I need to measure draw to know for sure I guess. Someone else left feedback on amazon and there draw was 168ish. I am going to do 3 under it. Which is the max I have seen work for it. Now I really wonder if I got a more powerful light. You are sure the 300w only has one fan? Mine has 2.

The same light I bought is now only $128.00 dang. And I guess it is a newer version of the 300w because their are 2 fans pictured on amazon too. Sorry to get so off topic. your grow is rad. I will follow it for sure.

Could of changed the housing for the LEDs to all use the same, Would be cheaper for who ever makes them instead of having to run 2 different sets of housings. Dont even know if we are talking about the same brand or from the same seller.
its been 3 odd months since I last looked.

Also a bit of sad news from today, While doing my check over looks like I have another hermi, Hairs on the top, balls down lower. But still to early to be 100% sure about the balls.
Had taken clones from it as well so not too sure which one of the clones came from it since didnt label them since all the males and hermis normally had shown them selfs before the end of the first week.

I guess im just going to have to do my next grow a bit differently and have ordered 2 further Cree leds to set up a mother room.
Then order some nice fem seeds if I cant find some nice clones locally then just run clones so there less chance of hermis and no chance of males.


$128 dam, Thats what always happens to me lol. Buy something and next week its way cheaper.
Thats been espeically true this week. Imported $800 odd of automotive parts from Australia last week. Now looking at the price today would of been $650 for it.

But back onto track. Stretch has picked up even more. 1 inch of growth from yesterday to today. So have had to add some more tie downs.
At this rate of growth if it continues for the same amount of time as the HPS did, They are going to end up 4 foot tall.
There rate of drinking has picked up as well.

About 7 weeks into flower but plant go messed up half way though veg by a cat breaking its way into grow tent and getting stuck then pissing on the plant.
Im just supprised it survived and didnt hermi.

Iam never growing under LEDs fck that 13 weeks to get that size wtf r u serious
I veg a max of 5 weeks under a 600w mh and get fck loads bigger and I mean fck loads
And my cooltube plus 2 growlush bulbs mh hps and ballast only cost me 250
Serious man that's 1 slow assed veged Iam will be finished in 16 weeks
That's 4 weeks veg

2nd week of 12/12,

Tallest one is 2.2 foot so had to raise the light up then put the little out door started ones on boxes lol.
Also one more showed 3 pollen sacks on the lower branches. So was very slightly hermi but didnt want to risk the rest of them so just cut it instead of plucking.
So that leaves me 7 females.

Since I now had quite a bit of male/hermi cab thought why not try make some ice hash out of them.
Couldnt find any info on people saying the sucessfully done it before but there were lots of posts of people saying they used them to make canna butter.
So pulled all the pollen sacks out of the cab and here is what I got.

Not much but was expecting to get nothing.
So going to leave that to dry and try it tonight and post back.

Was surprisingly good.
Same effect as smoking stuff thats been cut too earily but was enough to get me relaxed for a few hours.

I'd like to see you do a sog or scrog with that set up where you are utilizing the whole light and not lighting up a bunch of floor. I would think you could at least to a 3.5x3.5ft canopy of dense growth potentially

Flowers started to show 4 days ago.


Clones are doing ok as well.
2 of them have rooted so put them in soil once there were 3 big roots sticking out.

So ill keep the best one of the clones as a mother so next grow I can do SOG.

Mate had a mishap with his plant at his place which he grows for his medical condition. Was too big and touching the light which ended up killing it.
So I gave him 2 of my ones since he needs it more then I do.

Smallest one is about ready and has had 1 week of flushing. So I plan on cutting that tomorrow.

Nice grow man, LED's intrigue me. keep us posted.

Cut the smallest one,
15g wet so expecting around 5g once dryied. Not too bad for a plant that should of died
While trimming it up noticed it had fox tailed quite a bit.


So will be drying the best nug and using rest to make 4 cup cakes Which should make for a good long weekend.
