Ebb and flow defoliate question

Morning all ,I’m new to the site but am pumped to have joined ! So this is my first ebb and flow run 24 site. I’m in week 3 and just did my second level trellis. I’ve always defoliated at week 3 and just did . My question is do you think there is a negative impact on the plants if each morning I go through and remove any sites /shoots that I deem to be larfy or energy suckers ? Or just let them be ?

Trimming your ladies is stressful on the plant. Saying that I always like to give mine a day or two to recover. But it is weed and you will probably be just fine.

Yeah I just hate seeing anything low or below the trellis because I know what it will end up. ( larfy, airy ) I’ll post a few more pics in a couple weeks . Two 24 site rooms is super time consuming and basically only have 5am-8am then work . I try not to go to my space after work because of wife and fam time . So to manage all defoliation in one session is next to impossible which is why I’ve been doing a few each Morning.

I grew ebb and flow for years. Your plants look decently trimmed up. I've had my best results putting the plants into flower early to reduce the amount of secondary branching, and trimming just the lower stuff off right when they went into flower. Then letting them flower as stress free as possible, only removing things that seemed unhealthy or that seriously messed up airflow. Growing single cola plants in this SOG style results in much less bottom larf then growing big bushes. Its all about focusing the plants growth on that main cola instead of growing all kinds of stems and branches.

Yeah I’m digging the ebb and flow so far. I moved my space to some building lots I have with cottages on them. Private and discrete. I have two 24 site Rooms with phontek xt1000 (3 in each ) blue lab ph doser and titan 8 burner and control . Photontek control does all lights in two zones . Trying to make it as automated as possible being that it’s not in my house anymore and just focus on training and trimming . I ran earth boxes before and they were ok but were a pain filling reservoirs everyday. Hope to see some giant colas in here . 12 Girl Scout cookie X and 12 strawberry cough . Other room 12 fat bastard and 12 cafe racer .

Your canopy is short enough you shouldn't need to pluck those. The leaves are also thin bladed and don't seem to be crowding up too much. I would vote no pluck but maybe do half the table and see what happens for yourself and share?

Sounds like a plan. I’m glad you brought up thin blade . Whether it’s white widow, star killer, strawberry cough or GSCE my leaves are usually thin once flowering . What’s the cause you think ?
Intense light and co2? My lights are about 3,000 umol

LMFAO. So you're light is stronger than the sun at high noon in the summer??? Lolz Maybe try using a real par meter instead of a phone app. Lmao. That's a good one I laughed out loud and spit my coffee out.

Genetics usually, I would feed them a little more.

I’m just telling you what the meter says. Not a phone meter , it’s a “spot on quantum par meter “ I think it’s fairly accurate . 3000 is about 10” from light not like I’m saying it’s that at 16”. There I’m around 1900. Not sure why you’re surprised though . Fohse a3i produce over 4k umol. Photontek xt1000 are sold as 2925 12” from light . I haven’t got that high of a reading but but at 8” it’s accurate . The meter was close to 400 bucks “ not that that makes it good “ but the reviews are solid on it and I’ve tested numerous spaces/ greenhouses with it . IDK, maybe I’m wrong too. I spoke to the tech guy at photontek because I couldn’t get 2925 at 12” and he went on and on with a formula that was above my head. They do aid in growing some beautiful plants though , excellent penetration through the canopy . I also added the new mars hydro ur45 uv/ir bars between my bars . Set off two 75 bucks , pretty affordable. I put two on each light

I took a couple readings this morning before work . I’ve only been doing this for a few years and always strive to learn and improve . Am I wrong w numbers or doing something that’s not giving accurate reading ?
