EC/PPM meter?

Hello all I have a few questions regarding a EC meter. Does an EC meter also give the PPM? or do I have to specificly buy a meter that shows both EC and PPM? Also does anyone have any suggestions for buying one preferably a less expensive one.

Milwaukee Ph meter. Just reads ppm. On eBay for around $20.00.

I use an HM brand PPM meter. PPM in the US, EC in the UK. Check this one also.

I don't believe any meter can actually read ppm - they read EC, then use it to make a guess at ppm.
