Hanna sells an electrode storage solution. You only need a few drops. They say that you can use regualr tap water as well.

Uses the Rollitup profile
I use the hanna (tds/ec/ph/temp) meter and it works fine for 10 years now...I had to replace eletrode once at 8 yrs of daily use...

Holy Cow! Once after 8 years? What is the electrode number? My Hanna uses the HI 1286, and I have to replace it at least once per year, and lately they have been going out sooner. I believe that using organic nutes causes them to fail sooner. What are you using? You must be doing something right! :blsmoke:

i have a hanna tds/ec/ph/temp also, it has cal check on it, I love it! very fast reading, altho i've only been using this one for about half a yr. Before i was using the one with only tds/ec/ph on it and it works just as good just without the Temp.

I have the one with cal-check on it too and really like it! i was using those other kinds but every time i checked and calibrated they weren't right. If calibrated to the 7.1 solution the 4.0 was off and vice-versa - but not with this one!

My nutradip trimeters sucks, Don't buy one.

I wish I had not.
The tds portion failed within 2 months.

Go American, for reliability,
and so you will have a meter that works.

You can buy two milwaukee meters for the price of a trimeter
and the american meters work.

To answer your question.

TDS(total dissolved solids) can be express as E.C. and PPM
and are all the same measurement expressed in different scales.

E.C. is expressed in micro siemens.

I like ppm (no Math) plain and simple, parts per million.

I use the Hanna combo daily, was kinda expensive at $150, but it has worked fine for 10+yrs and only 1 electrode replacement for $50...that's about $20 per year...not too bad...

I love my HANNA HI 991404 pH/EC/TDS/T Meter/Monitor. I picked it up for $129 from eSeasonGear - Free Shipping!. It came with the wrong AC adapter,so I called the manufacturer, and no questions asked, they express shipped out the correct unit. Meter works great....manufacturer stands behind their product.......I couldn't ask for more. Just my opinion based on my experience.:peace:
