the topping takes place with the most recent growth coming from the top of the plant. clipping with your thumb and forefinger...and fingernails I suppose......taking that new top growth out and what will regenerate is two tops....then you can do that as often with each new top....the trade off has been said to be the individual tops are not a big but you get more of them......still looking to my own results but the topping part of it sure works.

hmm.. I just kinda cut (with scissors) about 2" down from the top of the plant just above the node. I threw the tops in water, will they grow I wonder??
I only topped three plants (my three weakest in case I did it wrong) If they live and do well I'll top the rest.

Thanx fellas.

PS- Ill try to post a cpl pics either tnight or tomorrow...

yes for sure they will grow, and can be treated as a clone...cuz.....aahhhuummmmmm.....thats what they are....cut/immeidately in water/rootinggel/powder/vege in humidity dome/then 10-14 days into soil and away to the races you go.....OR you could try and clone fan leaves like I did???#@#$%$#@!!!!!!

well.....I'm not sure....I suppose you could just wack'em into soil? we do that in reclamation all the time with Willows, slice em off and ram em into the soil....but I expect the likelyhood for success is reduced....?

Well I still have some peat pellets from my seed germination, I suppose I could just stickem in there and see how they make out??
I'll give that a try, I really dont care too much about those clones, it was more an experiment to see what happens to the topped plants.
When Im ready for the clones I have a clone cabinet (which isnt quite finished) that I'll use to keep the good strains going. I have a heat mat and will be using 6 26w cfl's, so all I'll need is the dome and I guess I should get some rooting hormone too.
Anyways, I'll let you know how I make out.
Till then.....

You dont need a humidity dome. I put my clones through hell and back and they are doing great now. Make sure your cut is at a 45 degree angle and if you can get some peat pellets put them in the peat pellets and just make sure they stay wet. they will root. If you have followed my grow journal you will see all the shit my clones went through. good luck!!

Perfect, I have the peat pellets, I'll just re-cut them on 45's.

Thanx Ratty!

Well, all plants are now topped and I put the tops into my new clone cab under a 42w cfl (I'll get more soon) and there is a heat mat under the cups.

The first pic is my current veg/flower room the 2nd pic is the clone/veg cabinet.

Well I guess I like to post pics, I like ppl to see my progress and I always love hearing comments and what not.. so here you go..
The plants are coming along nicely, their all around 14" or so (with the exception of a few stragglers, thats after they've been topped too).
Im thinking about putting them into flower soon.
I just cant wait, so excited to try some!! I haven't smoked in 2-3 months and Im gettin anxious!
anyone wanna lend a nug or two to get me by??
