Edumacate me

Due to an overgrown tree I am growing inside this season. My fluro fixture needs replacing but I'm wondering about this mysterious LED stuff.

Would someone tell me about LEDs in terms of Kelvin and wattage? I have seen setups where you can switch between veg and flower or both. I have a 3 x 3 area that I am growing in with some 250w CFLs and the fluros. They are in flower now.

I don't want to spend more that $100. I don't want something I am going to be 'fixing' with new this that or the other.

Can someone clue me in?

LED panels and strips often contain 3 different set of diods in "full spectrum", 2700K-6500K combined with IR 660nm. The cheapest start at 100w and you can get them for about 70-100 bucks with shipping

I run 650w LED in flower with 2700K/3500K and 660nm IR.

$100 might be a little tough to find something up to par.

I think you can find some around passable lights for a 3 x 3 in the $150 range.

Kelvin is just light temp as it's always been. Depends on the diodes used. Most fixtures' main diodes will be in the 3000K - 4000K range.

Power output and efficiency is the difference between cheaper lights and more expensive ones.

Far reds and blues are great, but they aren't the most important factor IMO.

Here's a couple that should fit the bill for you

Best LED grow lights nowadays are one-n-done, no Bloom or Grow switch and not "blurple" BUT, some lights are so specialized as to allow you the ability to go full spectrum OR isolated spectrums, i.e. all green or all red lights only.

I have a little Bloom Plus BP1000 in my 2x2 veg tent and it kicks ass for 95w and $49-60. It would flower one small-ish plant in a pinch, but multiple fixtures with some light spill-over to each other I'm sure two or more fixtures would flower a couple plants decently.

This would be perfect for you (minimum 300w for the 3*3) and is considered pretty much a rock bottom price (<$150) for the wattage. No idea if the coupon is still working.

Edit: that samphone raindog linked would work well
