I am setting up an aero grow but am not too familiar with wiring. I have a 12vdc 100psi pump and pressure switch. What kind of power supply do I need? Can I rewire an adapter? Am I able to use any plug? Thanks for the help!!

Computer power supply units (PSU) convert 110v to 12v. BUT, since it's a pump with moving parts, it might draw too much amperage for the PSU though. Didn't the pump come with a power adapter? You need to know all the info about the power consumption of the pump to know what kind of power you need for it.

there should be a voltage and amp rating on the pump
if nothing else post the name and model number on the pump and one of the experienced members would be glad to help im sure

You need a 12v power supply with greater ampacity than your pump requires.

I would take pump nameplate amps and multiply by 1.25 to get a minimum power supply ampacity.

pumps are notorious for high power draw so take the amp rating and times it by the voltage and that should give you max wattage\power the power supply will need to be able to handle V x I = W watts law

Thanks guys. I just want to make sure i do it right. It did not come with a power supply just a red and black cord which I've got to connect to the pressure switch which I then need to connect to power supply. It says here 8 amp max

whats the rating on your pressure switch ?
not sure if it matters but i would think to keep the amps on the pump lower then the max carry load on the pressure switch

Ya aslong its rated for what you're doing
Its just a laptop power pack.
Don't know how dependable it would be but they are cheap enough you could keep a spare I. Just googled.12v 8 amp power supply. You could see what the ones they sell for that pump look like and just find another one that looks like it cheaper. Most that shit is just relabled
