Empty Beer Bottles

Does anyone know what the leftovers in a beer bottle are giving off? The only reason I'm asking is because they smell the same as the yeast/sugar mix that I use for a CO2 maker I found in the DIY section. Would it be something that if there was a small amount of beer left in the bottom and I'd have to add a little sugar to it? I would start drinking right now if I knew it would help my plants grow bigger! hahah

Any feedback on this is appreciated.

i have heard of old hippies dumping beer for nutes to the plants.... I think a 12 dollar bottle of nutrients from the hydro store is better than a few 12 packs... my .02$

There's a thread here in organic's by Ohsogreen who advocated the use of feeding plants with beer. It works, and it's healthy! Pop open a beer every once and awhile, and pour the WHOLE thing into the plant. It's not harmful in any way, but you might want to go checkout the topic.

And as far as piss goes... it's way to high in nitrogen content and would kill a plant very very quickly if you watered it with piss. Your piss, however can be mixed in a 9:1 ratio for feeding your plants a good source of nitrogen

Also, maybe to answer your real question, YES. There's another gentlemen on rollitup here, who has a beer distillery in his basement, next to his plants. Attatched to the top of his beer drums are pipes that lead into the canopy of the plants. The CO2 from his beer production goes from tubes, directly to his plants... so yes its possible / it is :)

I'm not talking about pouring the beer onto the plants... yes I would call that a waste... But I am talking about taking the empties or the half empties that are left over after parties etc. and putting them in the grow room thinking that maybe there is some fermentation going on and possibly some CO2 being made.

I have grown some successful no name bagseed plants and am trying to utilize the things around the house more than buying the CO2 maker. Again I'm not talking about pouring the beer onto the plants as nutes. There is yeast used to make beer so there has to be some connection with both my home made yeast/sugar and the empty beer bottles was just wondering if it would give off anything at all.

I bet if you took left over beers from a party, poured them into a bucket, then added a tad bit of sugar and yeast, you might have a co2 farm going on

This is what I was thinking! I was high when I thought about it but really... why would it not work? I do not have the equipment to test results so i'm kinda fucked in that way. No way to prove or disprove / tell which way is better/worse.

As I said... I'm not planning on pouring this on the plants just wanting to know if any CO2 could be produced with the leftovers?

then i would have to say no. most the c02 is gone by then (no bubbles). adding sugar might do the trick, but a packet of yeast costs a dollar, and you will get a lot more c02.

honestly i made my own co2 generator using a 2 liter bottle and hose ..mixing yeast and sugar deal... i found that you had to keep shaking it and that damn stuff stinks.... id just save your bottle ..recycle them and get yourself a co2 setup... it will work much better...

I'm already using the yeast/sugar in a bottle. It just smells the same as an empty beer that's all.. Thought there might be a connection.
