energy saver bulbs?

alright, i just built my grow room and lined the inside with foil. so i went out and bought two 23Watt bulbs (the spirally energy saver ones) that were equal to 100watt bulbs. They are like 1600 lumens each. they are called the daylight ones, and say 6500K (the light color i guess). are these good for veg gowth on one plant?

Those bulbs are good for veg but the foil is not. Foil causes hot spots and is at the bottom of the list above black paint for diffusing the light. Flat off white paint is a lot better. Its right under Mylar for diffusing the light. Good luck with your grow show. Peace Out!

for only one plant that is ok for veg. Once you start fowring though get an HPS light, and keep the CFL's.

Your light choices are fine, I'd use them both, but the plant will need more like if it gets over a foot.

'Mylar' doesn't diffuse light like white paint. White paint creates a Lambertian effect.

I've never seen any paint out-reflect any metal reflector, just my two cents.

'Mylar' is aluminum metalized to PET fiber(Mylar®). They also coat fiberglass(same thing as Mylar) with it: http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/eastragonltd/product-detailDoCEGwSvEzkY/China-Fiberglass-Cloth-Coated-With-Aluminum-Foil.html
Might be the material used on those emergency blankets.
