Is there a light system that uses very little energy?

Cheers!

well cfls are "cheap" on power for vegging, but they put only about max of 100lum/W out, so the question should be efficiency;)

an MH bulb gives you about 120lum/W, a HPS even 150lum/W, so especially in flowering you save a lot if you want efficient light to flower with if you use HPS bulbs instead of cfls since you need 600-800W true Watts of cfl-light to match a single 400HPS bulb, that is the fact:)

and for the record, i'm not saying you can't flower with cfls, i done it with floros years back on my first try, they flowered fine and my crop was as fine as bad mexican shit:( so so much to just flower with a few cheap CFLs;)

u can pull a good grow with cfls with enough light
indeed you can. those eco lights pump out a lot of lumens, perfect for veg; around 16,000 for a 125w and 25,000 for a 200w i believe.. using two 200w will still be cheaper than a 400w mh and just as many lumens!

yes, but quantity wise. 250-400w can supply enough for each harvest to come around. im not sure 150w could cope with more than 1 large plant, and that isnt enough for my palllet im afraid

a 150w can grow 2-3 plants and can keep even the biggest smoker sufficiently stoned until his next crop comes around. i used to use a 400 till i was smart enough to realize a 150 was all i needed.

fairy muff. i have never tried so i cannot argue, an interesting notion nonetheless. ive only used flouros and a 600w hps lamp before. on cfl now but planning on a 400w hps for my flower.. id be interested to see pics of plants under the 150w? if it works as well as you say it does sound economical but without pics im hard to convince!

this is so the conversation ive been waiting for...

I'm FLOWERING a CFL grow that I'm going to be disappointed in...

I was debating just getting more 2700k cfl's or getting a 70w HPS versus the cost of a 400w HPS which is unreal for me at this time. I opted for a couple more 2900lumen 2700k cfls...but I KNOW the 70w HPS would do a world of difference..

my question is, should I go with the current CFL setup plus a 150wat or 250wat HPS for my flowering...
I'm happy with vegging on the CFL's I have, its just the spectrum and bulk of the buds I want to be more efficient on.. Should I go with a low wattage HPS system over several 2700k, 2900lumen CFL's??

I fear the answer is obvious..
