Epoxy floor? Have you done it?

Epoxy is the tits :bigjoint: Ive done a few on buddies garages, did it at a shop I worked at as well. If you have a slick finished concrete floor, id look into a textured finish. A smooth finish is slicker than pig shit if there is any moisture or fluids on the ground. If its rough, lay it on an enjoy. Solid investment :blsmoke:

Yeah I've seen some nice floors. Would love it in my shop....but wish I did it when I got the place. Totally redoing the basement and thinking about this route. Probably would have lots of chips....I like that look and better on traction.

I have done factory floors over and over in my illustrious career. Epoxy is no average paint job for the home owner. Just the proper surface preparation you are not equipped for. Acid cleaning and chemical approved respirators. At safe recommended dilutions. Then you have the fumes that are poison while using. Solvents to clean up with and proper disposal. Look into it further. Not easy peezy.

Use the high traffic area stuff and it probably lasts even longer. As with all floor coatings, how clean the floor is before coating will be the single biggest factor is how well the coating ages.
You know what I made to scarify your floor and repaint??

Your finish is only as good as your base. First rule.

Not your average homeowner...lol

Yes. Preferred method. Inhale a lung full or two. Chemical pneumonia. Just trying keep us all safe. Lived this fun tale.
I believe i opened all the windows, ran a fan, cut the acid as directed and had no problems. Not sure if I wore a respirator or not, I'd recommend it but DW is a welder so he probably knows all about fumes. Inhaling acid wasn't something I was trying to do.

One thing I remember was the cleaned concrete had to be wet, no puddles but wet, when you applied the first coat. One coat in the morning, second coat later that afternoon. It was a water based product, I think they make others though. Again this was fifteen years ago so my memory isn't 100%. I paid a buddy to help me, he worked for pizza, beer and a sack of dank. Same fella helped me hang kitchen cabinets in that house.

This is actually the same stuff I used:
