Indeed. I dont see anything in this build making it better than a hlg550 which also has all the UL listings etc. Price seems similar. In fact it looks like the equivalent of 3 qbs (6x2 foot double strips) on a unnamed driver. Also no real info on diodes, bin, driver, if the ppf/w is tested independently or calculated. Go for HLG. Or make your own light, its easy.Good to see Canada is now in the game
But looks like a simple strips build at 1400$ cad looks expensive but im sure its a good light
Where does it state that hlg are ul listed?,because I’ve never seen it anywhere...here is some info from their website, read it before you shoot your big mouth off.Indeed. Yes indeed... I read the blurb about this light and i base my comment on that, sorry if restating the facts provided in their web seems like shooting of my big mouth.Where does it state that hlg are ul listed?,because I’ve never seen it anywhere...here is some info from their website, read it before you shoot your big mouth off.
The Equinox 1000 utilizes the latest LED technology available from Samsung to deliver an impressive 1057μmol/s. Drawing only 465 watts this light offers a 56% energy reduction when replacing a 1000W HPS light. Trichome production is increased by 15% - 20% and crop cycle is decreased by 7 - 10 days. Cooling costs are reduced by over half. Expect 90,000 hours (20 years @ 12hrs/day) of use with less than 10% light depreciation. Proudly manufactured in Canada this light is backed by a 5-year full replacement warranty. The rugged workhorse design makes this fixture the obvious choice for growers seeking a high production and low energy lighting solution.
BENEFITS:
TOP FEATURES:
- Increased Yields and Trichome Production
- Lower Energy Consumption
- Reduced Cooling Requirements
- Robust High Efficiency Design
- Additional Flowering Cycle Each Year
- Canada’s first LED horticultural light meeting all UL safety standards and is proudly manufactured in Waterloo, Ontario.
- Complies with UL1598 for horticultural lighting electrical safety standards.
- A thermal protection auto-dimming feature guarantees the fixture will never over heat or reach temperatures that could degrade the components and shorten its lifespan.
- A manual dimming feature allows growers to conserve energy when plants are at early stages of development.
- The rugged high-grade aluminum design ensures this fixture can be utilized in tough working environments with minimal risk of damage.
- There are no mechanical cooling fans to clean or service.
- Tested and certified for high humidity environments.
- Minimal heat output lowers the growers cooling capacity requirements as well as energy costs.
- All electronic components are of the highest quality brands including Samsung LEDs and Mean Well power supplies. No off-brand components have been used in the manufacturing of this light fixture.
- IF Lighting’s proprietary LED driver ensures consistent light output from all LEDs.

Wow. What a giant bag of douche.Where does it state that hlg are ul listed?,because I’ve never seen it anywhere...here is some info from their website, read it before you shoot your big mouth off.
Maybe not a douche, we all know how easy it is to get offended here, but definitely very touchy. I literally thought this was a "help me buy the right light"- thread not a "validate me by being impressed with what i posted"-thread; i thought i was helping.Wow. What a giant bag of douche.
Amazing.

Me indeed-ing can sound a bit snarky, no offence meant @Flash63
Whats the flaw? And have you tried contacting hlg for a replacement?Sorry,View attachment 4237176 I was touchy as well, kinda upset that one of my hlg 550 has stopped working, and from what Ive seen there’re is a design flaw.they use Samsung lm561c diodes and meanwell drivers.
The driver is going into protect mode and shutting down, this has happened to half the the hlg550s between a few of my friends and at a local grow carrying the lights,Ive sent emails to growerslights,he keeps telling me that he not heard back yet.my light has been off for over 10 days now.Whats the flaw? And have you tried contacting hlg for a replacement?

Two dead hlg 550s are going to be diagnosed by an electrical engineer later today.ill get back to you I promise.
No but I will.Have you contacted HLG directly?
Props to you for not turning this into the usual butthurtfullness shouting match that tends to the usual way around here. Id be shitty aswell if my hlg acted up like that. Might be worth it to check if it works with some extra cooling on the driver, putting a fan on it. Contact hlg they are usually very good with helping although inhear they are stupid busy right now.Sorry,View attachment 4237176 I was touchy as well, kinda upset that one of my hlg 550 has stopped working, and from what Ive seen there’re is a design flaw.they use Samsung lm561c diodes and meanwell drivers.
Thanks dude,I am not here to fight, just going to do a test grow, with a light I got from my local hydroponic store,I have no affiliation with these lights and will give an honest opinion of my results.Props to you for not turning this into the usual butthurtfullness shouting match that tends to the usual way around here. Serious leafboners on the front right! Praying with fanatic zeal! Well on point...
I think the only "flaw" I've read about involves DIY builders not using plastic washers between the 288 board and the screw heads.Whats the flaw? And have you tried contacting hlg for a replacement?
No there’s not..when I put the reflectors on I had to use electrical tape to stop the boards from shorting out.I think the only "flaw" I've read about involves DIY builders not using plastic washers between the 288 board and the screw heads.
@Flash63 - are there plastic washers under the screw heads that hold the 288 boards to the framework?
